Corey Heim and TRICON were in for a pleasant surprise following the Fresh From Florida 250 event, where the 22-year-old had initially finished as the runner-up. Following a post-race ride height check, race winner Parker Kligerman was disqualified, bumping Heim up to the winner’s spot.
Over an hour after the initial result, Heim faced the media as the race winner and took the opportunity to address Kligerman and his team.
Corey Heim Has His Say on the Truck Series Win in Daytona
Earning his 12th career Truck Series win, under controversial circumstances, Heim expressed his feelings on the events that unfolded. Talking about Kligerman, the Marietta, Ga. native said it was the first time something of this sort had happened to him.
However, with him being on the right side, the TRICON driver had no complaints. Adding to his comment, Heim said that the ruling “sucks for Parker [Kligerman] and those guys.” Per Corey Heim, Kligerman and his team had put themselves in the right place at the right time, but there was another level to things after the race.
He added that it would have been much better if the win had come out on the tracks, particularly because of Daytona. However, the 22-year-old driver had no complaints after earning the race win. In the end, it was a good result to start the year off for TRICON and Heim feels that his team is working together well.
Additionally, TRICON Garage also posted a video on their official X account, where Heim revealed the win did not come the way they wanted it to come. Calling it a “kind of a crazy night,” the Toyota No. 11 driver added the win felt like a dream.
Having won the race “one way or another,” the Georgia native thanked his team and sponsors for their efforts, rounding out a successful outing. With Heim’s win, Truck Series rookie Gio Ruggiero took the runner-up spot.
Meanwhile, Henderson Motorsports has decided to appeal against the disqualification of their No. 75 car, making it the season’s first official appeal.
