Bubba Wallace had a frustrating day at Phoenix Raceway after his race ended early due to a right-front tire failure. The 23XI Racing driver was visibly upset after the incident, which he said was caused by a brake failure on the right front. Following the race, Wallace kept his emotions in check but made his feelings clear with a short Instagram post:
“On to Vegas.”
A Tough Break for Bubba Wallace
Wallace was hoping for a strong run at Phoenix, but things went south quickly. As he pushed hard, his No. 23 Toyota suffered a right-front tire failure, sending him into the wall. While it was initially believed to be a tire issue, it was later confirmed that the brakes failed, leaving Wallace no chance to save the car.
Frustrated with how things played out, Wallace didn’t hold back in his post-race comments.
“Unfortunate, I hate it. Had such a strong start to the season but all in all, to be p***** off about it, it is what it is. Felt like I executed all day and just wasn’t in the cards,” he told Jamie Little of Fox Sports in a post-race interview.
It was a tough blow for Wallace, who had been hoping for a solid finish at Phoenix. Instead, he was left watching from the sidelines, thinking about what could have been.
23XI Racing’s Struggles Continue
It wasn’t just Wallace who had a rough outing. His teammate Tyler Reddick also dealt with mechanical issues, struggling with a power steering problem later in the race. Despite the setback, Reddick fought through and finished P20, salvaging what he could for the team.
For Wallace, Phoenix was a race to forget. His “On to Vegas” post reflected his mindset — no use dwelling on the past, and all focus is now on the next race. With Las Vegas Motor Speedway up next, Wallace will be looking to turn things around.
While it’s still early in the season, 23XI Racing needs to bounce back quickly to stay competitive. The team has shown potential, but mechanical failures and bad luck have held them back. A fresh start in Vegas could be just what they need.
Can Wallace shake off this disappointment and come back stronger? Fans will be eager to find out.
