Dale Earnhardt Jr. recently made headlines with a passionate argument advocating for more practice time in NASCAR to prevent glaring problems. In a social media post, RFK Racing co-owner Brad Keselowski agreed with Earnhardt’s views.
On the latest episode of The Dale Jr. Download podcast, Earnhardt and TJ Majors discussed Katherine Legge’s recent struggles at Phoenix. They emphasized that even drivers with impressive resumes can struggle without enough practice. He asserted that NASCAR needs more practice sessions to avoid the same glaring problems that arise week after week and tighten up the field.
Brad Keselowski Backed Up Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s Stance on More Track Time
In a podcast clip posted on the Dirty Mo Media X account, captioned, “Raise your hand if you’d like to see more practice every weekend.”
Earnhardt said, “I got to say this, man. We don’t have any practice, the lack of practice and the problems that that creates is glaring. It’s in our faces every other week, but we kind of choose to ignore it because there are a lot of drivers who’d rather not have practice.”
“They have great cars that are probably going to hit the race track and handle well and be fast. And practice doesn’t do anything but tighten the field up, give the rest of the field an opportunity to improve.”
Keselowski, never one to shy away from sharing his perspective, replied to the post with a simple six-word statement: “Both hands in the air waving.”

While some in the NASCAR community are against practice sessions, Keselowski and Earnhardt believe their absence causes more harm than good. Their social media exchange highlights a growing conversation within the sport about whether NASCAR should reintroduce more practice sessions to improve competition and safety.
Fans have also voiced their support for more practice sessions. Many have said they would appreciate the chance to watch more on-track action for the prices they pay for tickets.
Keselowski is in his fourth season driving for Roush Fenway Keselowski Racing. Four races into the 2025 NASCAR season, he is placed 33rd in the standings. His best finish so far came at Circuit of the Americas (COTA), although his race did not go to plan due to a failure with his cooling suit. He finished at COTA in 15th place.
