‘Money Can’t Change Me’ – Shedeur Sanders Makes Bold Remarks About His Future Trajectory Before NFL Draft

    Published on

Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders made his intentions clear ahead of the 2025 NFL Draft and the process that surrounds it.

Shedeur Sanders isn’t someone who will get blown away by the unrelenting fame and spotlight that comes with being a first-round pick in the NFL Draft. The Colorado Buffaloes quarterback, who is expected to be among the first picks of the 2025 NFL Draft, spoke his mind during Saturday’s episode of Overtime.

He claims that his values will help him stay grounded as he’s scrutinized, celebrated, and thrust into the NFL world.

The Colorado quarterback had a breakout season, leading his team to a 9-4 campaign under head coach (and father) Deion Sanders. He played a pivotal role in putting the Buffaloes on the Big 12 map after a 4-8 season in 2023.

In 2024, he recorded 4,134 yards and scored 37 touchdowns while conceding only 10 interceptions. These stats earned him several accolades, including the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award. Now, he finds himself among the top passers in the 2025 NFL Draft.

While speaking to Overtime last week, Sanders mentioned that all these milestones will never take away his principles, and the NFL wouldn’t change the person he is.

“Nah, I’m gonna be the same,” Sanders said in the interview. “Money can’t change me, fame can’t change me. We did everything. So it’s like, there’s nothing that could really change.

“It’s just more about focusing on football and winning games. That’s really what it is for me. Whatever team I go to and whatever program you know I represent, representing that program in the best light. But other than that I’m gonna always be myself, I ain’t gonna ever change.”

According to the current draft order after Week 18, the Tennessee Titans hold the No. 1 overall pick, followed by the Cleveland Browns, New York Giants, New England Patriots, and Jacksonville Jaguars.

Those first three franchises are in dire need of a franchise quarterback, especially the Titans, who have Will Levis on the roster but could permanently bench him after a rocky second season.

Similarly, the Browns could also look for a passer as a pivot from Deshaun Watson, who tore his Achilles. He is still under contract with the team for at least two more years, but his poor production could push head coach Kevin Stefanski to explore his options. If Tennessee prefers Miami’s Cam Ward, Sanders could land in Cleveland.

The Giants are in a similar situation after Daniel Jones’ departure. Having Sanders in the QB room would finally give head coach Brian Daboll the talented passer he signed up for when he took the job.

Sanders has plenty of suitors waiting for him at the next level. It’s on him to stay true to his word and keep himself on this upward trajectory.
