Monday Night Football tonight Week 14 | Baltimore Ravens vs. Cleveland Browns game preview

The Ravens are close to healthy again after a number of positive cases ravaged their team for a few weeks. Lamar Jackson is making his second start since his positive test, the running backs are back, as are receiving weapons Mark Andrews and Willie Snead. As a result, the Ravens should see a major boost in their offensive production.

When fully healthy, the Ravens were able to dismantle the Browns at the beginning of the season. A 38-6 win was exactly what fans expected from a strong Ravens team. The Ravens were a Super Bowl contender last year, and the Browns were… well, the Browns.

However, the season hasn’t been as easy for Baltimore. Since their early-season win, the Ravens have gone just 6-5 and are just 2-4 in their last six. Meanwhile, the Browns have been 9-2 since that opening day loss, including winning five of their last six.

What has changed for the Cleveland Browns?

The dynamic has shifted in a major way since the beginning of the season and a major part of that is the Browns rushing attack. The Browns are second in the NFL in rushing yards per game with a passing game that’s competent enough to complement it.

If Baker Mayfield can avoid turnovers, then the Browns offense is usually above-average. On the other side of the ball, the Ravens have the league’s best rushing attack, but their passing game is among the worst in the NFL. Their one-dimensional offense has made them predictable and defenses seem to have figured out how to contain Lamar Jackson.

Both teams run into strong run defenses on Monday Night Football in Week 14. The Browns are eighth against the run, but the Ravens are no slouch either, coming in at 13th. This game may just come down to which defense can stop the other team’s running game. I have a tendency to lean more towards siding with the Browns and their dynamic duo of Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt over the rushing weapons of Baltimore.

The Browns are the hot team right now with a more diverse offensive attack. That makes them a dangerous team and they should be able to draw within one game of the AFC North title after the Steelers’ loss to the Bills last night.
