Roger Clemens pitched in the MLB from 1984 to 2007. From 1999 to 2003, he played for the New York Yankees and then finished his career with them in 2007 after spending a couple of seasons with the Houston Astros.
Clemens appeared in 175 games for the Yankees. His son, Kody Clemens, meanwhile, is an infielder for the Philadelphia Phillies. On Tuesday, March 4, the two organizations faced off in a spring training game.
Roger Clemens and Kody Clemens Exchange Lineup Cards Ahead of Yankees-Phillies Matchup
This wasn’t the first time a father and son exchanged lineup cards in spring training. Before Tuesday’s Phillies-Yankees game, Roger and Kody Clemens took part in the tradition, and it was a special moment for the family.
Don’t know if it was a first time event that a Father / Son exchanged line up cards or not. But I can tell you that it sure was a treat for “The Rocket” doing that with the Kid! Thanks again to “Boonie” (Aaron Boone) and “Topper” (Rob Thomson) for making it happen! @Phillies… pic.twitter.com/46aiSNnege

Some moments are bigger than sports. The Yankees went on to win the exhibition matchup against the Phillies 12-3. Playing second base, Kody went 1 for 2 on the day.
One fan said about the father-son exchange, “Dusty and Darren did it prior, but still a huge moment. Congrats, Rocket!”
To the fan’s point, back in March 2022, when Dusty Baker was with the Astros and his son Darren Baker was in the Washington Nationals organization, they met at home plate, embraced, and exchanged lineup cards.
Baker went on to win the World Series with Houston that season before retiring in 2023.
Another fan thought Roger should have taken the mound in the spring training game and said, “You know what would be great? Putting the suit on, going out there, and throwing a couple of innings to show everyone the Rocket still has it. I’m sure you could put a couple of innings in. That would be amazing.”

Someone else added on X, “It’s a trip for me that your son is in the big leagues. You were my favorite player as a kid, and I remember you lived in Katy, TX, and all your kids had ‘K’ names.”
Baseball fans certainly enjoyed seeing this moment during a spring training game, with many wondering when it will happen again.
