Los Angeles Angels superstar Mike Trout has not been healthy over the last four of five seasons in the MLB. Trout last played over 100 games in the 2022 season when he played in 119 games for the Angels.
Trout played in 82 games during the 2023 season and only in 29 games during the 2024 season. In 2024, Trout had a .220 batting average with 10 home runs and 14 RBIs, along with six stolen bases and one caught stealing attempt. His on-base percentage was .325. Trout hopes to be available more often in 2025 and has been in the big leagues since the 2011 season.
Mike Trout’s Exciting Position Change
The 33-year-old understands how important it will be for him to stay healthy throughout the 2025 MLB season. He was not an all-star for the 2024 MLB season. Trout will look to get back to being an all-star this season in the MLB.
The Angels outfielder said via MLB Network radio, “I know where I’m at. I know when I’m out there I still feel I’m the best player on the field. “Just got to be out there. That’s the whole mindset coming into spring.”
Trout didn’t want to change from playing in center field, but he met with manager Ron Washington and general manager Perry Minasian at the start of spring training to potentially discuss a position change for the 2025 season. Trout said about the meeting,
“It went great. Kind of just threw everything on the table, as in what’s best for me, body-wise, to keep me on the field.
Came to the conclusion that I’m going to go to right field. I like it. Try it out. See where it goes.”
Trout is projected to be the starting right fielder for Los Angeles this season. Taylor Ward is projected to be the starting center fielder for the Angels and Jo Adell is projected to be the starting center fielder. Mickey Moniak is projected to be one of the key backup outfielders on the roster.
Trout also added, “I talked to talk to a few guys, and I’ll talk to Torii (Hunter) when he gets here because he did it. There’s a lot of guys that move to right field that I’m gonna talk to. Just see the difference and just go out there and get comfortable in spring.”
The star outfielder will need to stay healthy all season if the Angels want to make a push for a playoff spot in the American League during the 2025 MLB season. Los Angeles last made it to the playoffs in the 2014 season when they won the AL West with a 98-64 record. Trout is hoping to provide a spark to this franchise this season and stay healthy for them.
