Mike Vick Lauds Ravens QB Lamar Jackson to PFSN

Vick talked to PFSN about Jackson’s chances of winning another MVP award while in New Orleans for the Super Bowl.

“Lamar’s a great player, no doubt about it, going for his third MVP. I think that speaks for itself. It’s only a select few guys who are in that echelon of players and so he has a chance to do something that’s special. I know it means a lot to him.

“And obviously, probably playing in this game would mean a lot more, but he has a long career ahead of him. And so, I do think he’ll get to a Super Bowl. I do think he’ll win one. It’ll happen in time. It don’t matter if it happens in year two or year 15.”

Jackson finished first in PFN’s QB+ metric with an A+. Jackson threw for over 4,000 yards and 41 touchdowns this past season, but the Ravens lost to the Buffalo Bills in the AFC Divisional Round.

If Jackson wins his third MVP award, he would join an elite group of players who have won multiple MVP awards, including Aaron Rodgers, Peyton Manning, and Tom Brady. Jackson is fully aware that he could be making history, but winning a Super Bowl means more to him.

“If it [does] happen, it happens, [and] that’d be dope. Three times [winning it], but like you said, I’m not really focused on that,” Jackson told reporters on Dec. 23. “That’s never been my goal though. Even [with] the first or second one, [winning MVP has] never been my goal. I always want to finish with the championship, but I’ve been falling short.

“[I] got that accolade, but I still feel like the MVP is a team thing, though, because my teammates [are] helping me get that award, because I always say that I’m not the one catching the passes [or] blocking to help me get these passes off [and] stuff like that. That’s [the] offensive line, tight ends, receivers [and] running backs. It’s everybody, all of us included.

“I’m trying to win the championship. That’s my biggest goal. That’s been my goal ever since [I was] a little kid, but an MVP in the National Football League — that’s dope. That is dope.”
