Eleven seasons in the NFL and all of those are 1,000+ seasons, even the great Rice couldn’t achieve that. Hence, it looked like a tough nut to crack for Evans after he missed four games this season due to a hamstring injury.

However, in the last game and on the last snap of the season against the New Orleans Saints, Baker Mayfield connected with Evans on a nine-yard pass, which pushed his total to 1,004 yards for this season.

Ashli witnessed it all at Raymond James Stadium with her four children. She also posted her reaction to the moment as her husband achieved the goal. “Making memories while Mike Evans is making history,” she captioned her post on Instagram.

This record also comes with a major payday as well. Evans hit his contractual escalator target of 70 catches, 10 touchdowns, and 1,000 yards.

The 31-year-old ended the season with 74 receptions for 1,004 yards and 11 touchdowns earning him $3 million in bonuses.

Evans Shares Gratitude After Making History

Evans reached a feat that’s a monumental challenge for any receiver in this day and age. A true workhorse down to his core, he expressed his gratitude to his teammates after his historic achievement.

“I can’t pass up history,” Evans said to the media after the game. “I’m happy that they had me go out there and get that because it’s hard to do for 11 straight years and to be tied with the greatest receiver of all time means a lot to me.”

Evans would love to continue his tremendous form on Sunday as the Bucs begin their postseason. Their first challenge will be the high-flying Washington Commanders at home in the Wild Card round.
