Mike Evans Free Agency Predictions: Landing Spots Include Chiefs, Texans, Commanders

    Published on

After 10 seasons with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, how likely is it that Mike Evans is in a different uniform next year? What are some potential landing spots?

NFL free agency is quickly approaching, as the new league year officially starts on March 13. Before that, though, there’s the franchise tag deadline.

Could the Tampa Bay Buccaneers tag Mike Evans? It’s possible they may not want to let their productive wide receiver test the open market and would do so to ensure that. However, right now, Evans is slated to become a free agent, and we look at potential landing spots that would make sense for him outside of Tampa.

Mike Evans Free Agency Landing Spots

Evans has been the epitome of consistency in the NFL. He has accumulated over 1,000 receiving yards in each of his 10 NFL seasons and has 94 receiving touchdowns during that time.

It hasn’t mattered much who has been throwing Evans the football. Big plays and production have become the standard. The Buccaneers will surely look to keep him in the fold, but if they can’t or Evans decides he wants a change of scenery, a few teams make sense for his services.

Mike Evans a Key Piece in a Chiefs 3-Peat

The Kansas City Chiefs were able to secure a second consecutive Super Bowl title but did so with up-and-down offensive production. Luckily for them, they have Patrick Mahomes under center to calm all tides. Still, they will need to add more weapons this offseason to help their QB out.

Enter Evans, who could be the perfect fit for Mahomes and this Chiefs offense as they look to go for their third championship in a row. A wide receiver looking to go to a championship candidate in the back end of his career is not uncommon, and Evans would provide an instant upgrade to the group that includes Rashee Rice and not much else.

Another Big Play Weapon for C.J. Stroud in Houston

One of the youngest and fastest-rising teams is the Houston Texans. They’re led by a respected young coach in DeMeco Ryans and a budding superstar QB in C.J. Stroud. Evans could come in and be another weapon for Stroud to distribute the ball to alongside Tank Dell and Nico Collins.

It’s an all-in move for a Texans team that may be looking to take advantage of a young quarterback on his rookie deal. Adding a veteran presence like Evans to the mix can only help the situation in H-Town.

Evans Can Add to a Revamped Commanders Team

Unlike the previous two destinations, it would not be as ready-made of a situation, but the Washington Commanders have money to spend and are led by a new stable of leaders looking to head in the right direction.

Historically speaking, the Washington franchise has been unafraid to spend big money in free agency, and it may take that again to lure in Evans in this situation. But with the second overall pick in the draft, a boatload of cash to spend, and Dan Quinn running the show now, there are far worse situations to be in than the one in the nation’s capital.
