‘Cowboys Out of Super Bowl Drought’ – Michael Irvin Gets Ripped by NFL Fans for Another Hot Take

New show, same Michael Irvin. In his debut on FS1's 'Undisputed,' the Hall of Fame WR said the Cowboys are going to the Super Bowl.

Michael Irvin made his “Undisputed” debut alongside Skip Bayless, Richard Sherman, and Keyshawn Johnson, and it didn’t take long for Irvin to fall back into old habits.

Irvin, a former Dallas Cowboys receiver and Hall of Famer, has a lengthy history of pontificating how “this is the year” the Cowboys end their drought and advance to the Super Bowl. Irvin has made boisterous statements about the Cowboys for years. At least he’s consistent.

The Cowboys have not been to a Super Bowl since Irvin donned the jersey, but that hasn’t stopped his support of his beloved franchise.

Dallas Cowboys to the Super Bowl? Michael Irvin Believes So

Irvin’s first thought went back to the previous offseason when the Cowboys traded away veteran receiver Amari Cooper to the Cleveland Browns. Irvin believes had they had Cooper in 2022, the Cowboys would have won against San Francisco and perhaps advanced to the Super Bowl.

Irvin believes the Super Bowl’s location, Las Vegas, is fate as the “stars” will align in Vegas. Adding Brandin Cooks to the Cowboys brings the complementary piece on offense that Dallas lacked in 2022, according to Irvin.

Irvin pointed to an inter-squad practice fight as an example of the fire lit under this Cowboys team.

Richard Sherman Not So High on Dallas in 2023

Sherman kicked off the debate by reminding the panelists that the Cowboys had been eliminated in the Divisional Round of the playoffs by the San Francisco 49ers. Sherman reminded Irvin that the 49ers did so with two different starting QBs, who outplayed the Cowboys’ starting man under center, Dak Prescott.

Sherman also pointed to the coaching staff as one of the primary issues with the Cowboys organization. Sherman played for current Dallas defensive coordinator Dan Quinn during his Seahawks’ career. Sherman praised Quinn while questioning head coach Mike McCarthy.

Sherman believes the Cowboys’ offensive line will be their eventual downfall and pointed at NFC East rival Philadelphia Eagles as a defensive front seven that could terrorize Dallas.

Keyshawn Johnson Says Dak Prescott Is the Key for the Cowboys

Johnson, also a former Cowboys receiver, chimed in. He believes it’s not “how far can the Cowboys go” but “how far can Dak Prescott take them?”

Johnson appeared to agree with the Cowboys’ offensive transition from former offensive coordinator Kellen Moore to Mike McCarthy, who will be calling plays in 2023. Johnson believes a better running game and line play will benefit Prescott, allowing him to perform at his best.

For Johnson, it boils down to Prescott taking care of the football. “If he throws 15 interceptions in 12 games, they’ll be in Vegas with us, chillin’.”

    NFL Fans Weigh In

Given Irvin’s history of hyperbolic statements and the Cowboys underperforming in the playoffs, social media had some thoughts.
