‘We Definitely Need Some Call to Action’ – Micah Parsons Wants Cowboys to Shift Gears Heading Into 2025 Season

Micah Parsons urges the Dallas Cowboys to make some aggressive moves this offseason to become a Super Bowl contender.

Linebacker Micah Parsons has been with the Dallas Cowboys since they drafted him No. 12 overall in the 2021 NFL Draft. However, after four seasons, Jerry Jones’ team has yet to establish themselves as serious Super Bowl contenders.

The Cowboys finished the 2024 season at a disappointing 7-10. They finished third in the NFC East and did not qualify for the playoffs. It looks like Parsons has had enough of them sitting around and not bringing in the needed change.

Micah Parsons Wants the Cowboys to Get Proactive

During a Make-A-Wish charity event he attended, Parsons told reporters he wanted the front office to aggressively build a championship-caliber team.

He then compared Dallas’ situation to the Eagles’, admiring their aggressive team-building approach, which enabled them to win Super Bowl 59. Parsons feels that the Cowboys must learn from this.

“This is a team that, over the past couple of years, we kind of got our wins and losses against them, and battled with them,” Parsons said. “Obviously, there is talent here, but we’ve just got to finish and go be aggressive the same way they did, you know.

“I don’t wanna sit back and just watch other people build and build and build and I stay the same, so we definitely need some call to action.”

Parsons also pointed out that the Dallas Cowboys should focus on retaining key players. This move could prove vital to their chances of winning the Lombardi Trophy.

“I just want to see us be aggressive, and I wanna see us get players that’s gonna help us… And I wanna see us bring back our own players that are just as important, and let’s see what we can do there….There is some success to it.

“You look at Philly and how they went and got Saquon [Barkley] and how they went and got Zack [Baun]. Everyone doesn’t need a max deal. There are great quality players that can do one-year or two-year deals, obviously we’ve seen that this year.”

Parsons Shares Update on Contract Extension With the Cowboys

Jones also needs to focus on providing Parsons with a new contract. He is in the final year of his rookie contract after they decided to pick up his fifth-year option for $24 million.

Parsons told reporters he has been in talks with the Cowboys for a new extension. While his comments were positive, the news of the delayed extension is disappointing for fans.

“I really have a lot of respect for Jerry. We have great conversations all the time. There’s definitely a plan in place, but we’ll just see how everything plays out. There’s been no progress yet, but I’m pretty confident that something will happen, we’ll see.”

The two-time Pro Bowl linebacker has become indispensable to the Cowboys’ roster. If they delay giving him an extension, Parsons might choose to leave when he hits free agency next year.
