‘I Was Devastated’ — Cowboys Superstar Micah Parsons Makes Feelings Known on Mavericks-Lakers Luka Doncic Trade

Like many Dallas Mavericks fans, Dallas Cowboys star Micah Parsons is still reeling from the trade that sent Luka Doncic to the Lakers.

It’s been almost a week since the blockbuster trade between the Los Angeles Lakers and Dallas Mavericks that saw superstars Luka Doncic and Anthony Davis swap teams.

The trade sent Mavs fans reeling, and they still haven’t recovered. Micah Parsons of the Dallas Cowboys may have summed up the feelings of most Dallas fans when they heard about the trade.

Parsons Was Devastated by Doncic Trade

Like many Dallas fans, Micah Parsons was devastated by the trade.

“I’m devastated. Honestly, bro, we was the same age. I felt like I would say he was getting the city spot. We could have done great things together,” Parsons told Calvin Watkins of the Dallas Morning News about the shocking deal between the Mavericks and Lakers.

At a “Battle for the Paddles” event, Parsons also said, “You just can’t take things for granted, man. You do so much for a team, so much for a city, and for them to move on from you like that, it hurts. Especially drafting him. It’s terrible bad timing, really.”

For years, Doncic was the face of the Mavericks, and many thought he was the future. Last year, he led his team to the NBA Finals against the Boston Celtics. Doncic, who is only 25, may now be the face of the future for the Lakers once LeBron James finally decides to hang it up.

Parsons Wasn’t the Only Mavs Fan Upset

Parsons wasn’t the only one who shared his grief about the trade. Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes, who played his college ball at Texas Tech, was also stunned by the trade.

Mahomes talked about the trade at Super Bowl Media Day.

“It’s tough because I’ve watched (Doncic) since he was 18 years old,” Mahomes said. “I remember going to a practice and it was Dirk (Nowitzki) and Luka, and seeing his maturation and how great of a basketball player he has became, it’s been fun to watch.

“As a Dallas fan, it hurts me. But I’m happy for him that he’s going to be able to go out there and be in L.A. and try to achieve his dream of winning a championship. He did so much, not only for the basketball team but for the city of Dallas, so I’ll always be appreciative of those years. But I’m excited for the Mavericks moving forward and the guys they brought in.”

Saturday marked the debut of former Lakers star Anthony Davis in a Mavs uniform, but it didn’t end well. Despite the Mavs defeating the Houston Rockets, Davis had to leave the floor with another injury, which just adds salt to the wound of this trade for Mavs fans.
