On the latest episode of “The Edge With Micah Parsons,” Dallas Cowboys superstar rained praise on Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow, describing him as the best QB in the league.
Micah Parsons Raves About Joe Burrow’s Play
While the Bengals got off to an 0-3 start this season and are barely alive in the playoff race, Parsons pointed out that Burrow has been playing extremely well.
“This version of Joe Burrow is the best QB in the NFL,” Parsons said. “This healthy Joe Burrow… the anticipation, IQ, pre-snap awareness, scrambling out of the pocket.”
Parsons then went on to state that right now, in his current form, Joe Cool is playing better than the likes of Patrick Mahomes, Josh Allen, and reigning MVP Lamar Jackson.
Last week, Burrow led the Bengals to their third-straight win, throwing for over 250 yards with three touchdowns on 23 of 30 passing against a solid Cleveland Browns defense. That was good enough for a 134.3 passer rating, and a new place in the NFL record books.
Burrow became the first quarterback in NFL history to throw for at least 250 yards and three touchdowns in seven straight games. He’s accomplished that now in every game dating back to the Bengals’ 41–24 win over the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 9 when he threw for 251 yards, five touchdowns, and one interception.
Five other quarterbacks have thrown for 250+ yards and at least three touchdowns in five straight games, including future first-ballot Hall of Famer Tom Brady, who did so in six straight contests during the New England Patriots’ 16–0 season in 2007.
When you’re getting compared to the GOAT, you’re doing something right. However, some fans were quick to notice that Parsons chose Burrow as the best quarterback in the league over his teammate, Dak Prescott, who recently became the NFL’s highest-paid QB.
Prescott is hurt, so perhaps Parsons was saying that Burrow is the best in the league right now. Still, it’s interesting that Parsons didn’t mention Prescott at all. The leader of the Cowboys’ defense describing another team’s quarterback as the best in the league without even mentioning his own teammate has raised some eyebrows.
Since their 0-3 start, the Bengals have battled and kept their playoff hopes alive. Yes, they need to win out. Yes, they also need some help, but it’s safe to say that no one wants a piece of the Bengals right now, and that’s because Joe Cool has put the team on his back. This man is on absolute fire right now, and he’s turning some heads across the league.
