Micah Parsons Claps Back at Jahmyr Gibbs After Lions RB Throws Shade at Cowboys

    Published on

Micah Parsons called out Jahmyr Gibbs for lying after the Detroit Lions running back took a subtle dig at the Dallas Cowboys.

Jahmyr Gibbs is one of the most explosive players in the NFL. The Detroit Lions drafted him with the 12th overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, and he proved to be the right choice.

Gibbs was the second running back drafted in the first round of his draft, as the Atlanta Falcons selected Bijan Robinson with the eighth pick. Had the Lions not drafted Gibbs, the Dallas Cowboys were expected to get him later, the RB shared, which the Alabama product did not want.

Micah Parsons Takes Issue With Jahmyr Gibbs’ Comments on Cowboys

In a recent conversation on the “Up & Adams Show,” Gibbs talked about how he did not want to get drafted by a team that plays in cold weather. He also took a shot at the Cowboys while discussing his pre-draft thoughts.

“Like, when I was in the draft process, I said I just didn’t want to go to you go to a team up north,” Gibbs said. “But I’m happy I came here though. The Cowboys wanted to get me too at [No.] 24. … Imagine if I were a Cowboy right now, I’d be so sick.”

Micah Parsons did not like Gibbs throwing shade at the Cowboys because he believed the Lions star was lying. “This is the biggest cap in AMERICA!!!” Parsons wrote via his account on X (formerly known as Twitter).

It’s not uncommon for players entering the NFL to want to be drafted by a team like the Cowboys, as the NFC East team is the most valuable sports franchise in the world. Moreover, since Dallas gets more media coverage than any other team in the NFL, players could have the opportunity to make a lot more money through endorsements than they would while playing for other teams.

Parsons knows the benefits of playing for America’s team, so he signaled that Gibbs was lying. The Lions running back is a great player, but as is the case with almost every player in the league, they love to undermine opposing teams, even if it is by not telling the truth.

Gibbs and Parsons will compete for years to come, and the next time Detroit faces Dallas, all eyes will be on the Cowboys’ defense and how they react to the running back’s comments about their team.

Gibbs and Lions Survive David Montgomery’s Injury Scare

Gibbs’ partner in crime, David Montgomery, suffered a significant knee injury in the Lions’ Week 15 loss to the Buffalo Bills. Earlier, it was feared that Montgomery could miss the rest of the season due to a torn MCL, but the Lions recently received a positive update.

According to the latest reports, Montgomery is expected to play again this season, which is huge for Detroit’s Super Bowl aspirations. The Lions are 12-2 and have been one of the best teams in the league for the majority of the season, but injuries have begun to pile up.

The NFC North team has a league-high 21 players placed on the injured reserve, with their defense being heavily affected. Getting Montgomery back later in the season will greatly help the Lions, as they might be involved in high-scoring affairs.

Montgomery has rushed for 775 yards and 12 touchdowns in 14 games this season, averaging 4.2 yards per carry. His presence makes things easier for everyone else, but until he is back, Gibbs has to show everyone why he is one of the best running backs in the league.
