Dallas Cowboys wide receiver CeeDee Lamb has been under the microscope this season. His time is not getting any easier as NFL legend Troy Aikman took a shot at the team’s receiving corps during a recent appearance on 96.7 FM radio show “SportsRadio 1310 The Ticket.”
Aikman criticized the lackluster route running of Dallas’ wideouts, including Lamb. The former Cowboys QB isn’t alone in his assessment, but opinions are divided. Fans took to social media to defend Lamb, with one X user posting, “Lol now Ceedee isn’t a great route runner. I hate it here.”
However, Terrance Parsons Jr., brother of Cowboys linebacker Micah Parsons, chimed in, agreeing with Aikman and backing Lamb’s talent.
“He’s a great route runner, but you can definitely tell a difference when he’s expecting the ball,” he tweeted.
Nahh he’s a great route runner but you can definitely tell a difference in the routes from when he’s expecting the ball and when he isn’t https://t.co/Ncv6ujoMew

Aikman, the former Cowboys quarterback, sees their lack of route precision as a major factor in their passing game struggle.
“I think CeeDee has got to improve in his route running,” Aikman stated. He pointed out that it’s tough for a quarterback to perform when he’s unsure where his receivers will be.
“I see guys lazy coming off the line of scrimmage. Sometimes they run. Usually, if they do, it’s because they’re anticipating they’re going to get the football on that play but, if they’re not, they don’t and it all ties together. I’m not impressed with that part of it.”

Dak Prescott, the Cowboys’ QB, has also struggled amid inconsistent routes and an offensive line featuring two rookies.
CeeDee Lamb Apologised for the Dak Prescott Situation
The relationship between Lamb and Prescott hit a rough patch after the Cowboys’ loss to the Baltimore Ravens in Week 3. Lamb, fresh off a career year in 2023, when he led the league with 135 receptions, has struggled to replicate that production in 2024.
The Ravens game was a new low for Lamb, who posted four catches for 67 yards and appeared frustrated on the sidelines, which led to a heated exchange with Prescott and the coaching staff.
Lamb later addressed the situation during a media appearance, taking full responsibility for his performance.
“I expect a lot out of myself, more than anyone could put on me. And quite honestly, I failed myself,” Lamb told reporters.
CeeDee Lamb was disappointed in how he handled himself during Sunday’s loss: “I know that’s not the player I am. I know that’s not the teammate I am. … It was a bad game on my end. I fully take accountability in that.

He admitted that the pressure got to him but vowed to bounce back stronger. With only 32 catches for 467 yards and two touchdowns through five games, Lamb needs to rekindle their connection fast if the Cowboys hope to turn their season around.
