Brian Schottenheimer has leapfrogged several candidates in the hunt for the head coach job at the Dallas Cowboys. This turn of events has shocked many.
However, linebacker Micah Parsons’ brother Terrence Parsons Jr. has come out in the open to share his feelings on this development.
Micah Parsons’ Brother Shares His Disapproval of Brian Schottenheimer for Cowboys HC
Per reports, the Cowboys have set up an interview with their current offensive coordinator, Schottenheimer, for the top job.
The son of legendary NFL coach Marty Schottenheimer joined America’s Team in 2022 and served as the OC for the last two seasons under Mike McCarthy.
Micah’s brother Terrence is not the type to stay tight-lipped about things within the franchise that he doesn’t approve of. Hence, as soon as the rumors of the 51-year-old being considered for the HC position were out, he took to X (formerly Twitter) to say his piece.
“I stg we don’t wanna win s**t,” he tweeted. This sentiment has been echoed by Cowboys fans as well.
Prior to this, many considered Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator Kellen Moore the top man for the job after Deion Sanders basically refused to leave Colorado. However, Jerry Jones bamboozled everyone by lining up an interview with Schottenheimer.
At Least 1 Player Approves Schottenheimer as HC
One of the key reasons why Dallas could be moving in the direction of Schottenheimer is a factor of continuity for the offense. While the offense sputtered this year (ranked No. 23 in PFN’s Offense+ metric), the 2023 form was spectacular, leading the league in scoring. After making Dak Prescott the highest-paid QB in the history of the NFL in 2024, that line of thought is to be expected.
During the “DLLS Cowboys” podcast, longtime Cowboys insider Clarence Hill Jr. read a text from one of the team’s players regarding Schottenheimer moving up the ladder. Hill stated this player could be “No. 4,” but he did not specifically name Prescott.
“He’ll (Schottenheimer) be ready for the next step. He has the right personality and brain,” Hill said reading the text message on the podcast.
With Prescott’s supposed approval, Jones will have the mandate to hire Schottenheimer after McCarthy’s departure.
