Only 15 teams entered NFL Week 2 with a 1-0 record. Eight of them will play each other — including the Miami Dolphins and the Baltimore Ravens, two talented AFC teams with playoff aspirations. Read on for a breakdown of the Dolphins vs. Ravens matchups, the key injuries, and game predictions from our NFL staff.
Miami Dolphins vs. Baltimore Ravens preview
The Mike McDaniel Era got off to a satisfying start in Week 1. The defense was swarming. Tua Tagovailoa was productive. Tyreek Hill was dynamic. And McDaniel was, for one day, the best coach on the day — which is saying something, considering the opposition.
McDaniel outfoxed Bill Belichick, and the Dolphins were never really threatened after a late first-half Jaylen Waddle touchdown in a 20-7 Miami victory. Of Tagovailoa’s 270 passing yards, all but 107 went to Hill and Waddle. The only real concern? The team’s running game, which averaged just 2.8 yards per carry against New England.
[bet-bonus id=”164810″ ]The Ravens likewise took care of business in Week 1, beating a far inferior New York Jets team 24-9 on the road. Lamar Jackson once again proved he’s worth every dime he believes he deserves, throwing for three touchdowns. Two of those scores went to third-year wideout Devin Duvernay.
The Ravens’ defense gave up some yards but tightened when it mattered the most, turning the Jets away on 12 of 14 third-down chances. The schedule gets much tougher starting now, however. Seven of Baltimore’s next eight games are against teams expected to compete for the playoffs.
