Miami Dolphins’ Tyreek Hill Goes on the Record About Marina Incident, Possible Suspension

Might Miami Dolphins Tyreek Hill still face legal and NFL punishment for his role in a June incident?

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. — Miami Dolphins Tyreek Hill said Wednesday that he has “no idea” whether he will be charged criminally for his role in a June incident at a local marina but did say “the issue has been resolved.”

“I’m currently cooperating with the NFL, giving them all the details on what happened on that day,” Hill added.

UPDATE: The Miami Herald reports that the Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office has closed the matter and Hill will not be charged criminally.

Hill was a full participant Wednesday on the first day of Dolphins’ training camp. He spoke to reporters after practice and a couple hours after his coach, Mike McDaniel, revealed that the NFL inquiry into the incident is ongoing.

Hill seemed to acknowledge Wednesday that he reached a settlement with the charter boat employee who accused him of slapping the back of his neck during a June 18 argument.

The alleged victim later spoke to police about the ordeal, but it is unclear if he is still willing to cooperate with authorities and the league. Oftentimes, settlements end any such cooperation.

When asked Wednesday if he was concerned about a possible suspension, Hill replied:

“Me? Nah, man. So, when I, able to come here and play ball, man, I get a chance to get away from all that at the end of the day. So that’s the great thing about football. So, God has blessed me to be able to perform and do what I do, and I’m blessed and grateful for that. I just can’t make boneheaded mistakes like that.”

McDaniel said before practice that he has been in communication with both Hill and the league about the altercation, adding:

“In situations like that, everybody is disappointed with what we’re talking about.”

Hill revealed only this when asked about his conversation with McDaniel:

“He did tell me, you know, ‘We got your back, full support,’ and that, that’s all the details that [I’ll say].”
