Storm Duck decided to head south for the summer. The rookie cornerback with the elite name practiced with the Miami Dolphins for the first time Friday.

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. — Storm Chandler Duck. The Miami Dolphins‘ rookie cornerback whose elite name is a complete sentence.

Is his game just as good?

    Stay tuned.

Meet Miami Dolphins Rookie Storm Duck

Duck practiced as a pro for the first time here Friday, sweltering under the South Florida sun at Dolphins rookie minicamp.

Afterwards, the undrafted rookie out of Louisville met with a new media group who asked questions that he probably has heard a million times.

At PFN, we try to think outside the box. So we asked him if his last name was a noun (as in the bird) or a verb (as in, get out of the way).

    His good-natured response:

“Noun. Definitely a noun, for sure.”

Duck acknowledged that he’s gotten “a lot of things” for his last name but has taken the ribbing in stride.

“I learned to embrace it. It’s me. I love it.”

Up next: Making a name for himself in the NFL.

Duck (6′, 195 pounds) went undrafted despite many thinking he had a real chance of being a late-round pick.

He had a choice of a half-dozen or so teams, but he chose the Dolphins in part because of the success that UDFA corners have had in Miami. Kader Kohou and Nik Needham both have had successful Dolphins careers despite going undrafted.

“Getting out here the first day with the guys is fun,” Duck said. “And definitely the Florida weather is a different breed. Obviously just being out there and competing and knowing what type of guys are in the room, that’s something I look forward to.

“We all look forward to learning and, and just getting better.”
