    Published on

The Miami Dolphins made elusive USC wide receiver Tahj Washington their seventh and final pick of the 2024 NFL Draft.

The Miami Dolphins have made their seventh and final 2024 NFL Draft pick.

And like two of the players that preceded him, the newest Dolphins receiver Tahj Washington will make the team if he can help score them points.

Washington out of USC became the third skill position player selected by the Dolphins in just a matter of hours, joining Tennessee running back Jaylen Wright and Virginia wide receiver Malik Washington.

Miami Dolphins Draft WR Tahj Washington With 241st Pick

    The Basics

    • Age: 22
    • Height: 5’10”
    • Weight: 174 pounds
    • Hand: 8 3/8”
    • Arm: 29 1/8”
    • Position: WR
    • School: USC
    • Current year: Redshirt Senior

    The Fit

The two Washingtons played on different coasts, but they have a common trait: Big producers despite their sub-six-foot stature.

Tahj is an expert at getting open. Per PFF, he ranked in the 97th percentile in drop rate, 96th percentile in separation percentage, 91st percentile in YAC per catch, and 89th percentile in yards per route run.

If that sounds familiar, as a Dolphins fan, it should. He fits the template of the type of player Mike McDaniel loves — can get open and can do something with the ball after he does.

Will the two Washingtons compete for one roster spot this training camp? Perhaps.

Even before signing any UDFAs or veteran free agents, the Dolphins have 10 wide receivers. The competition this summer among at least seven players for at most three roster spots will be intense.

    PFN’s Grade

“Tahj Washington was the 137th overall prospect on the PFN Big Board, with his route-running, yard-after-the-catch ability, and impressive willingness to get down and dirty in the ground game all hallmarks of his scouting report.

“At 5’10” and 174 pounds, he’s likely to be pigeonholed into the slot at the NFL level, which is perfectly acceptable for what the Dolphins need him for.” — PFN draft analyst Oliver Hodgkinson

    Grade: A

    He Said It

“I’m very excited to have this opportunity to play in Miami. Seventh round be where I happened to land, but I’m excited to play at the next level.”
