Miami Dolphins Pro Bowler Weighs in on Anthony Weaver Hire

Alec Ingold has seen new Miami Dolphins defensive coordinator Anthony Weaver's motivational videos. And he's impressed.

LAS VEGAS — Miami Dolphins fullback Alec Ingold is out there living his best life this postseason.

Last week, Ingold participated in his first Pro Bowl, one of six Dolphins who made the trip to Orlando. Thursday, he walked the red carpet at NFL Honors. Ingold was a VIP invitee as the Dolphins’ Walter Payton Man of the Year nominee.

“The past couple of years is all right, man,” Ingold told PFN. “And I think if you buy in, you do what you’re supposed to do the right way, this is the opportunity you have.”

Ingold said the trip to Las Vegas “is a special moment. It’s like the biggest show in the biggest city that can handle it. And it’s, it’s a lot of hard work.

“You get to celebrate throughout preseason, regular season, postseason, Pro Bowl, and now we’re here, on and off the field celebrating what, what this last year was, special.”

Special, yes. But still short of his ultimate goal.

Ingold — who also organized a mental health panel here this week with some former Raiders teammates — would much rather be here preparing for Super Bowl 58 than making the rounds at Radio Row.

If the Dolphins do snap the NFL’s longest playoff victory drought this offseason, it’ll be in no small part because Anthony Weaver proves to be a capable replacement for Vic Fangio.

Ingold hasn’t yet met Weaver. But he had this to say about the Dolphins’ new defensive coordinator, who is in just his first full week on the job:

“I’ve seen all the videos. I’m watching and the scrolling and seems like a great motivator, extremely experienced. Obviously, that defensive line group with the Ravens was extremely talented, top to bottom. Well coached, disciplined. So if we get a taste of that, it’s obviously going to be good for us.”
