Miami Dolphins Predicted To Target Explosive 21-TD WR in First Round of the NFL Draft

The Miami Dolphins are coming off another season in which their high-powered offense looked electric at times but lacked the consistency to truly contend in the AFC. With uncertainty surrounding Tyreek Hill’s long-term future and Jaylen Waddle’s production dipping over the past two seasons, Miami could look to add another explosive playmaker to keep its offense at an elite level.

Enter Luther Burden III. The Missouri wide receiver is one of the most intriguing prospects in the 2025 NFL Draft, and some analysts are already predicting that the Dolphins could make a push to bring him to South Beach.

According to Pro Football Network’s most recent 7-round NFL mock draft, the Dolphins are predicted to draft Burden in the first round at No. 13 overall.

Dolphins Predicted To Draft Luther Burden III

Burden isn’t just another college wide receiver. He’s a legitimate game-breaker who fits perfectly with what Miami wants to do offensively.

The Dolphins’ scheme thrives on speed, explosiveness, and dynamic playmakers who can turn short gains into massive chunk plays. Burden is built for that role.

At 6’0”, 208 pounds, Burden is a nightmare after the catch. He possesses elite agility, balance, and acceleration, making him a perfect fit for an offense that utilizes quick passes and relies on receivers creating yards in space. His natural ability to slip past defenders and break tackles could add a new dimension to Miami’s attack, especially in the slot or on designed screens.

Another reason the Dolphins could be targeting Burden? Uncertainty at the receiver position.

While Hill is still one of the best in the game, he’ll be 31 next season, and rumors about his long-term future in Miami continue to circulate. Waddle, once seen as the heir apparent to Hill’s role, has struggled with consistency, and his production has declined over the past two seasons.

Adding Burden would give the Dolphins insurance for the future while also providing a player who can contribute right away.

    Could Miami Make the Move?

With Miami’s offense built around speed and explosiveness, Burden would be an ideal fit. His ability to take short passes and turn them into big gains aligns perfectly with head coach Mike McDaniel’s system, and he’d provide a seamless transition if the Dolphins eventually move on from Hill or if Waddle continues to struggle with consistency.

While Burden hasn’t publicly expressed interest in playing for Miami, he did recently raise some eyebrows when he shared a photoshopped image of himself in a Washington Commanders jersey on social media. Whether that was just for fun or a legitimate hint at his preferred destination remains to be seen.

For the Dolphins, the decision may come down to whether they prioritize offensive line help or add another weapon for quarterback Tua Tagovailoa. If they believe Burden can step in and be an immediate difference-maker, they may not hesitate to pull the trigger.
