Miami Dolphins Still Have a Pretty Significant Need on Defense (Beyond D-Line)

    Published on

The Miami Dolphins are huddling with NFL Draft safety prospects, which is wise. It's probably the thinnest position currently on their roster.

On Thursday, the Miami Dolphins hosted USC DB Calen Bullock on a 30 visit, which, considering the current state of their roster, is smart.

As of Bullock’s visit, the Dolphins had just two true safeties on their roster: Jordan Poyer and Jevon Holland. Those are their projected 2024 starters.

Miami Dolphins Day 3 Draft Options at Safety

Elijah Campbell and Nik Needham can play there in a pinch, too, but Chris Grier needs more. The free agency well is basically dry (Justin Simmons and Quandre Diggs are the only two safeties left from the PFN Top 100).

And, given the team’s more pressing needs at other positions, it’s unlikely that they’ll use a first- or second-round draft pick on that position. Here are the more realistic options, beginning with their Round 5 pick.
