Odell Beckham Jr. Has Received an Offer From the Miami Dolphins

Fresh off of a visit with the Dolphins, free agent wideout Odell Beckham Jr. may be headed back to South Florida soon to sign a contract. According to Mike McDaniel on Monday, the team made him an offer.

“Things are great with him. We did make him an offer,” McDaniel started. “Business takes time, especially with players such as him, who have a phenomenal career who has really good football in front of him and has options.

“I think those conversations will be ongoing, and we’ll see where they go, I don’t live in a world of ‘crystal balling,’ and I do stay in my lane as a coach.

“I’m definitely ready to coach him if we come to an agreement, I think both sides are trying to work toward that to make it happen.”

In his first year playing since suffering a torn ACL in Super Bowl LVI with the Los Angeles Rams, Beckham signed a contract with the Baltimore Ravens ahead of the 2023 campaign. He had 35 receptions for 565 yards and three touchdowns, averaging 16.1 yards per catch, the highest of his career.

Miami already has a ton of weaponry at the receiver position in Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle as the No. 1 and No. 2 wideouts. Hill had 1,799 yards and 13 touchdowns, while Waddle had 1,014 yards and four touchdowns. Beckham would most likely be the third option in the formidable trio.

Beckham has played 10 seasons, totaling 566 catches for 7,932 yards and 59 touchdowns. He’s also a three-time Pro Bowl selection, a Super Bowl champion, and the 2014 Associated Press Offensive Rookie of the Year.

Mike McDaniel Will Call Plays for Miami in 2024

The Dolphins will see no changes to who will call the offensive plays. McDaniel isn’t relinquishing the role, and all stats point to one question.

    Why should he?

Miami had the No. 2 scoring offense (496 points) in the NFL in 2023 and the No. 1 offense (6,822) in total yardage. The aforementioned passing offense, paired with the No. 6 rushing offense in yardage (2,308) and No. 1 rushing touchdowns (27), proved to be terrific for the Dolphins in the regular season.

McDaniel discussed why he wouldn’t be making changes to the offensive play-calling to Pro Football Network’s Adam H. Beasley.

“I’ve thought about it long and hard. I think one of the things that we have done this offseason is really leaned into the facilitation of full communication and development of our staffs in all three phases.

“I think from the play-calling perspective, for now in the spring, I’m going to call plays, and I plan on doing it in the fall. But we will always adjust if necessary. But as long as you’re OK with me calling plays, I’m going to call plays.”

Mike McDaniel Not ‘Mourning’ the Loss of Bill Belichick in AFC East

Bill Belichick won six Super Bowl rings as the head coach of the New England Patriots and dominated the AFC East during his 24-year tenure, commanding a 387-266 regular-season record.

McDaniel was asked about Belichick’s departure, and he responded in a comical way.

“To say that I’m somber and have been mourning the loss of Bill Belichick in the AFC East would be a flat-out lie, and I wouldn’t lie to you,” McDaniel joked at the NFL Owners Meetings in Orlando, per video from Josh Moser of WSVN-TV.

“There’s not anybody more difficult from a defensive standpoint, to try and forecast what they’re going to do in that next game, and there’s not anybody better at facilitating technique and fundamentals across the board.”

Miami Dolphins Hosting Visit With Northern Iowa DL Khristian Boyd

Former Northern Iowa defensive tackle Khristian Boyd is expected to make a top-30 visit with the Dolphins, per Bleacher Report’s Ryan Fowler.

Boyd had a career year in 2023, making 38 tackles (14 solo) with a pass deflection and 2.5 sacks. The 6-foot-4, 317-pound interior defensive lineman is expected to be a highly coveted prospect in this year’s NFL Draft.
