Miami Dolphins Practice Report and Injury Update: How Serious Is Tyreek Hill’s Quad Injury?

    Published on

The Miami Dolphins have some big injury questions ahead of Saturday's game against the Kansas City Chiefs, but Tyreek Hill is apparently not one of them.

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. — The Miami Dolphins will have one true practice in preparation for the Kansas City Chiefs, and that won’t be until Thursday.

Tuesday was an off day, and all Mike McDaniel has planned Wednesday are meetings and a walkthrough. So Thursday will be telling in determining which of the Dolphins’ long list of injured players can go Wild Card Weekend.

Still, McDaniel’s comments Wednesday and the team’s Tuesday injury provided some helpful clues.

The most important question: Will Tyreek Hill be good to go after hurting his quad in Sunday’s loss to the Bills?

McDaniel’s answer should remove any doubt.

“Should I be concerned about Tyreek Hill this week? Probably not,” McDaniel said. “I had no idea about any quad until there was an injury report.”

Translation: It’s no big deal, and Hill — who might be pound-for-pound the toughest player in football — would need an amputation to miss Sunday’s playoff game against his old team.

One other new issue the Dolphins have dealt with this week: A calf injury for DeShon Elliott, who would have not practiced Tuesday and won’t participate in Wednesday’s walkthrough.

McDaniel said the team is “hopeful” that Elliott plays Saturday.

There were no reporter questions Wednesday about Raheem Mostert or Jaylen Waddle, who each missed the last two games with ankle injuries, although the expectation is both will play.

Even though they didn’t practice Tuesday, league rules mandated that the Dolphins had to release an injury report.

Had they practiced, OT Terron Armstead (knee/ankle/back), S Jevon Holland (knees), and CB Xavien Howard (foot) would have also sat out.

Six other Dolphins would have been limited in their participation: Hill, Waddle (ankle), Mostert (knee/ankle), RB De’Von Achane, OL Liam Eichenberg, and CB Jalen Ramsey (knee).
