Miami Dolphins CB Jalen Ramsey Named PFN Defensive Player of the Week

Dolphins CB Jalen Ramsey has been excellent since returning to the lineup and continued that level of play to win PFN Defensive Player of the Week in Week 11.

Welcome back, Jalen Ramsey. The Miami Dolphins‘ star cornerback has been sensational since returning from injury just three weeks ago and took his game up another notch in Week 11 against the Las Vegas Raiders.

Miami Dolphins’ Jalen Ramsey Wins PFN Weekly Honor After 2 INT Game

Ramsey put the exclamation point on the Dolphins’ 20-13 win over the Raiders on Sunday when he secured his second interception of the day to effectively end the game. Ramsey jumped underneath an Aidan O’Connell pass and leaped up to grab the game-sealing interception to make sure that there was not going to be a Las Vegas comeback.

When asked about Ramsey, head coach Mike McDaniel said he hopes that teams keep trying the star defensive back.

“I’m really hoping they throw at him. Honestly, I mean, both interceptions were out of control in difficulty level. So, he could see him on the first one. See the ball and he was the aggressor. I think he was behind the receiver on an in break. And he bypasses them to get that thumbs together catch that he’s diving for.

“A lot of receivers don’t make that reception. And then that to track the ball down the field. And, and to get contacted in the moment of truth. And hang on to the ball, I mean, it’s huge. I think the whole team has gotten a little bit better to a degree since he’s been back. And you know, that’s the type of effect that players of that caliber can have on people.”

Adding Ramsey was one of the biggest moves of the offseason for any team. And although he has only played in three games so far due to injury, there’s no denying what he brings to the Dolphins’ defense since being back out there.

Ramsey has allowed an absurd 0.0 passer rating when targeted so far this season. He’s collected three interceptions in three games since being back, proving that there have been no ill effects lingering from the knee injury that has kept him out for the majority of the year.

The scary thing about Ramsey is that he admits that although it looks like he is back to 100% on the field, he believes that he “definitely still has room to grow.”

Ramsey added, “I get fatigued a little bit, in the second half a little bit, my body overall..at the same time, the only way to get ready for football and really be in football shape, and feel like the guy I am, is to play more football and this is only my third game.”

It’s a scary proposition for the rest of the NFL when you sit back and think that Ramsey may not be at full strength just yet, with room to continue to grow as he gets more acclimated to being back on the football field.
