Miami Dolphins Injury Report: Xavien Howard, Connor Williams, Jevon Holland Back in Week 9?

The preliminary Miami Dolphins injury report Wednesday is a positive one for Mike McDaniel, who hinted at the return of three starters for the Chiefs game.

Miami Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel met with reporters ahead of the team’s Wednesday practice in Frankfurt, Germany.

And he had some excellent news for his team’s fans ahead of the Dolphins’ massive showdown with the Kansas City Chiefs: Safety Jevon Holland (concussion), cornerback Xavien Howard (groin), and center Connor Williams (groin) all seem poised to return to the lineup after missing time with injuries.

Williams was active last week but only as an emergency option. He didn’t see the field, marking the fourth time in five games he’s been held out by that pesky groin injury.

As for Howard, he has been inactive since Miami’s Week 6 win over the Panthers — even though he’s been available to practice.

McDaniel coyly hinted at Howard’s improved health, saying that “You can say he’s going to be a factor … an X factor, if you will.”

“We’ll see how [he] does today,” McDaniel added. “It was hard enough to hold him out. … Had to look at the picture and what a setback or a nagging issue would do to this team. … I know he enjoys playing much more than watching.”

As for Holland, he’s out of the concussion protocol after missing the team’s Week 8 win over the New England Patriots. That’s the good news.

The bad? The guy who started in his place — Brandon Jones — is now in the protocol and was left back in the United States to recover. McDaniel did not rule out flying Jones commercially if his health improves throughout the course of the week.
