How Many Picks Do the Dolphins Have in the 2025 NFL Draft?
Currently, the Dolphins have seven picks in the 2025 NFL Draft. To this point, they’ve retained their original selections in Round 1, Round 2, Round 4, Round 5, and Round 7.
The Dolphins traded their 2025 third-round pick to the Philadelphia Eagles in exchange for a 2024 fourth-round pick, which they used on running back Jaylen Wright. Their sixth-round pick, meanwhile, was lost in a pick-swap that netted them wide receiver Chase Claypool and an extra seventh-round pick from Chicago.
Miami’s extra 2025 fifth-round pick, finally, was added as collateral in the Bradley Chubb trade, where Miami sent a 2023 first-round selection to the Denver Broncos. That first-round pick was eventually traded from Denver to the New Orleans Saints in exchange for the rights to head coach Sean Payton.
What Are the Dolphins’ Biggest Needs in 2025?
Dolphins fans can rejoice: Quarterback is no longer a prospective need. Tua Tagovailoa and the Dolphins agreed on a four-year contract extension worth well over $200 million.
Depending on your opinion of Tagovailoa as an NFL starter, this deal might either be stellar or not-so-stellar news — but the general consensus is that Tagovailoa is a QB a team can win with. And his situation with Mike McDaniel, Tyreek Hill, and Jaylen Waddle is one of the best you’ll find.
Nevertheless, there are needs to be aware of, on both offense and defense.
On offense, WR3 could soon be a need again, depending on what happens with Odell Beckham Jr. and Braxton Berrios. Malik Washington has been up-and-down in his first NFL camp.
Elsewhere, offensive guard remains a relatively pressing long-term need. Isaiah Wynn and Robert Jones form a competent short-term duo, but both are set to be free agents in 2025.
On defense, defensive tackle will likely remain a need until Zach Sieler gets a new running mate to replace Christian Wilkins. Calais Campbell is a good short-term option, but he’s getting older, and there’s less depth behind him now. Nose tackle remains a long-term need as well.

At the second level, linebacker is a position to monitor. David Long Jr. will be a free agent in 2025, and while a strong scheme fit, it’s unclear if he’ll be able to do enough to earn an extension.
In the secondary, cornerback and safety both have their question marks. Jevon Holland is perhaps the team’s most notable pending free agent in 2025, and undrafted free agent gem cornerback Kader Kohou is also scheduled to see his contract expire.
