What Are the Dolphins’ Biggest Needs in 2025?
The Miami Dolphins’ 2024 season was derailed early in the year by an injury to Tua Tagovailoa, but even when their franchise quarterback was healthy, it was a tough year. It is hard to read too much into the metrics on offense (15th) because of the time they spent without Tua and the impact that will have had, but the offensive line ranking 26th stands out as a major concern.
The Dolphins allowed Robert Hunt to walk in free agency last offseason, and the combination of Robert Jones and Liam Eichenberg was not as reliable as they had hoped. When you then throw in the potential retirement of Terron Armstead at left tackle, the offensive line could be in line for a major shake-up. They may see Patrick Paul as being able to step in at LT, and if so, they will be looking more for depth than a starter.

Defensively, the Dolphins finished the year ranked 11th, but they have a lot of potential free agent losses on that side of the ball. The biggest individual loss is Calais Campbell, but their depth chart looks very short at defensive tackle, safety, and linebacker. They could also benefit from adding role players at EDGE who can be disruptors on a small snap count.
Just off this list are quarterback and wide receiver. We are not at the point of looking for a replacement for Tua, but the Dolphins do need a backup they can rely on if he misses time. Equally, they need some more reliability at wide receiver. After Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle, there is no receiver you would trust to be on the field for the majority of the snaps and make an impact.
