Miami Dolphins 7-Round Mock Draft: Deone Walker Gives Dolphins an Unstoppable Force at DT

In this Dolphins 2025 NFL Mock Draft, Miami adds a mountain of a man on the interior defensive line and acquires insurance at quarterback.

In this 2025 NFL Mock Draft, the Miami Dolphins do everything they can to surge off the cusp, and finally enter the land of perennial playoff contenders. But can they do enough?

The Dolphins are in a tricky position as a franchise. Mike McDaniel — who’s coming off a strong 11-6 season — has revolutionized the modern NFL offense with a cast of speed demons that includes Tyreek Hill, Jaylen Waddle, Raheem Mostert, and De’Von Achane.

But past the excitement, dozens of questions haunt the Dolphins. Will quarterback Tua Tagovailoa be extended, and if he is extended, will he be worth that kind of money? Can the talented cast of veterans on defense stay healthy? And can this team — albeit talented and right on the verge of contention — stop getting in its own way?

Some of those questions, they’ll need to answer sooner rather than later. But in this 2025 NFL Mock Draft, other areas are strengthened to compensate for that uncertainty.

Who Could the Miami Dolphins Draft in 2025?

1.21) Miami Dolphins: Deone Walker, DT, Kentucky

The Dolphins managed to keep Zach Sieler around for the long haul, and they also added Teair Tart and Benito Jones as short-term fixes. But the losses of Christian Wilkins and Raekwon Davis will sting long-term. Sooner or later, they’ll need to re-invest at DT.

In the 2025 NFL Draft, few investments at DT could be more fruitful than Deone Walker. At 6’6″, 348 pounds, Walker needs to drastically improve his pad level. But he’s a logic-defying athlete with universal alignment versatility and three-down disruptive potential.

Ideally, at his maximum, Walker could be a game-breaking force for opposing offenses. When he plays with proper leverage, he’s hard to move from 0-tech and 1-tech, and he has the explosiveness and agility to rush anywhere from 2i to 7-tech, and barrel through opposing blockers with power.

Beyond his rare physical ability, Walker’s work ethic has been a topic of praise entering what could be his final collegiate season. Thus, there’s reason to believe he can kick his leverage concerns and become an unstoppable force for Anthony Weaver.

2.53) Miami Dolphins: Terrance Ferguson, TE, Oregon

With both Jonnu Smith and Durham Smythe on expiring contracts after 2025, TE could soon be a need. Terrance Ferguson is a top-50 prospect as a two-phase, three-down security blanket with utility as a route runner, clutch-down catcher, RAC threat, and blocker.

This is admittedly more of a pick for the future than a pick for an immediate void, but Ferguson is an exceptional value addition here, who also fits the scheme and gives McDaniel a complete player, at a position where he’s lacked that, time and again.
