The Pittsburgh Steelers 2023 season has been one to remember and one to forget at the same time. Although they’ve struggled offensively, they’ve won games thanks to strong defense and good coaching. However, a part of those offensive issues has been the quarterback.
The Steelers will play their third QB of the season in Week 16 when Mason Rudolph starts. Before he got his shot in the NFL, Rudolph was a college star with some impressive stats.
Mason Rudolph’s College Stats
Rudolph was born July 17, 1995, in Rock Hill, South Carolina. He attended Westminster Catawba Christian School before transferring to Northwestern High School.
In his high school career, Rudolph passed for 10,986 yards and 132 touchdowns. He accounted for 80 total touchdowns in just his senior season.
After his dominant high school career, Rudolph was ranked as a four-star recruit according to Rivals.com. He went on to commit to and play for Oklahoma State University, where he spent four seasons.
During his four years, he passed for 13,618 yards, 92 touchdowns, and 26 interceptions. In his senior season, he passed for 4,904 yards, 37 touchdowns, and nine interceptions. On top of that, he added 17 career rushing touchdowns.
During his time at Oklahoma State, he was named second-team All-Big 12 in 2017 and also won the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award, Sammy Baugh Trophy, and Camping World Bowl MVP.
After his successful time in college, Rudolph was drafted in the third round of the 2018 NFL Draft by the Steelers. Pittsburgh moved up three spots in a trade with the Seattle Seahawks to select him, and he’s been with the Steelers ever since, playing in 18 career games. Rudolph was the sixth quarterback selected in the 2018 draft.
