Marvin Mims Jr. Fantasy Waiver Wire: Should I Pick Up the Broncos WR This Week?

Marvin Mims Jr. had a huge game for the Denver Broncos against the Washington Commanders. Should fantasy managers now be interested in him on the waiver wire?

The Denver Broncos lost on one of the craziest endings you will see in an NFL game on Sunday against the Washington Commanders.

The Broncos led by 18 early in the game but found themselves down eight with just a couple of seconds left when Russell Wilson converted a Hail Mary with no time left to cut the lead to 35-33. However, the Broncos were unable to convert the two-point conversion and ended up moving to a 0-2 record.

In addition, Mims Jr. took a punt 45 yards back and showed he has big-play potential. So, now that he showed off that speed, should he be on your fantasy football roster?

Should Marvin Mims Jr. Be a Fantasy Waiver Wire Add in Week 3?

One player who stood out for the Broncos vs. the Commanders was Mims Jr., a wide receiver the team drafted out of Oklahoma in the second round of the 2023 NFL Draft. He is known as a burner, as he ran a 4.38 40-yard dash at the 2023 NFL Combine.

He had his welcome to the NFL game on Sunday night, as he had two catches for 113 yards and one touchdown. His touchdown was a 60-yarder, but he also had a 53-yard catch.

It has been a brutal past few months for the Broncos when it comes to wide receivers. They have had to deal with numerous injuries. Tim Patrick was lost for the second consecutive year, KJ Hamler was cut after dealing with a heart issue, and Jerry Jeudy has been dealing with injuries as well.

For the Broncos, there aren’t a ton of wide receiver options who can be counted upon to remain healthy, so Mims Jr. is definitely an intriguing waiver wire addition.

Is it likely that he is going to average 56.5 yards per catch next week? Nope, that will not happen. However, with all the injuries the Broncos have been dealing with, he got his shot and showed what he is capable of.

In an ideal world, he would have a couple more games where he is targeted more before making a decision to sign him off the waiver wire. However, in fantasy football, you don’t always have the option to wait. If you are considering signing him in your league, you are most likely not the only person having that thought.

The Broncos look like they could be one of the worst teams in the AFC and could find themselves preparing for the future in a hurry. If that is the case, Mims Jr. could have a bigger-than-expected role in Denver.

Mims Jr. is in a good situation to take the chance on him. With all of the injury issues as well at the position, there is absolutely an opportunity for him to be a great waiver wire pickup.
