It hasn’t been an easy year for Daniel Jones and the New York Giants. Fresh off a 2022 season where head coach Brian Daboll won Coach of the Year, they won a playoff game to advance to the Divisional Round of the playoffs, 2023 was every bit as bad as the year prior was good.
Jones only played in six games due to an ACL tear, the team finished 6-11 with turmoil amongst the coaching staff, and both parties now appear to be on the hot seat heading into 2024. Despite all that, it looks as if the crosshairs are pointed at Jones and his new deal, as rumblings have come out about the team’s “buyer’s remorse.”
However, NFL analyst Louis Riddick held no punches in his defense of Jones on Wednesday and how he’s been wronged by the Giants organization.
Louis Riddick Blasts Giants for Treatment of Daniel Jones
The Giants have many issues to deal with as they head into the 2024 season. And while Jones and his play is something worth mentioning, Riddick made it clear that the quarterback shouldn’t receive the majority of the blame.

“Thirteen months ago, their owner John Mara said, ‘We’ve done everything we can, we’ve done everything in the world, everything possible to screw this kid up,'” Riddick started.
“In terms of the structure they put around him with the coaching staff, the support he had on the offensive line, the support he had at the skill position, all of it.
“And then, in March of last year, almost to the day, they gave him a contract, $36 million signing bonus, $92 million guaranteed…he played six games this year, he was sacked 30 times, six games. Their pass-block win rate is in the bottom quarter of the NFL…Darren Waller, who they signed from the Raiders, is a guy who didn’t pan out for them in a way they hoped.
“They have no weapons on the perimeter, and now all of the sudden, they’re done. Now we’re done after six games of playing last year…now they’re done with him, and now they have buyer’s remorse, and now they may be in the market for another quarterback.
“Isn’t that amazing? How stuff can turn, and you wonder why the Giants have not been able to make some headway in the [NFC] East and be true contenders. Because when you have this kind of thing that’s happening within one calendar year, there’s no way you can make headway.”
Riddick pulled no punches and let the Giants’ front office know just how he felt.
He feels Jones hasn’t been given a fair shake at trying to make things work. And with the rumors that the Giants may be looking to move on, Riddick unloads how he feels about the organization and their handling of it.
