Chargers vs. Seahawks | Current NFL odds, spreads, betting lines, and predictions
- Spread: Seahawks -6 (-110)
- Moneyline: Seahawks -250, Chargers +200
- Total: 36 (Over -110, Under -110)
Despite their 1-1 preseason record, the Chargers come into Saturday’s game 2-0 against the spread after covering in their five-point loss to the 49ers a week ago. Conversely, the Seahawks enter Saturday’s game 0-2, both straight up and against the spread. In fact, after falling at home to Denver by a score of 30-3, their average margin of defeat is 20 points through their first two preseason games.
As for the total, perhaps there is a notable trend that has developed. Both teams have gone under the game total in all of their preseason games. In other words, the under has cashed in all four of the preseason games that the Chargers or Seahawks have played.
Chargers vs. Seahawks series history
The Chargers and Seahawks have faced each other 51 times in the regular season, which seems like a lot until you remember that the Seahawks were part of the AFC West division before a realignment moved Seattle to the NFC West in 2002. These two teams are nearly dead-even all-time, with the Seahawks holding a 26-25 head-to-head series lead.
- Seahawks 31-28 Chargers | 2002
- Chargers 20-17 Seahawks | 2006
- Seahawks 27-20 Chargers | 2010
- Chargers 30-21 Seahawks | 2014
- Chargers 25-17 Seahawks | 2018
Ten of the last 11 matchups have resulted in one-score games, with the lone exception being a nine-point Chargers’ win in 2014.
In their last meeting, the Chargers took a 19-10 halftime lead and never looked back. Philip Rivers passed for 2 touchdowns while Melvin Gordon added 113 yards rushing and a score of his own in the victory. The game is probably most noteworthy for the number of penalties (22) that the two teams combined for.
