L’Jarius Sneed Trade Rumors: Adam Schefter Addresses Speculation on Chiefs-Colts Talks

    Published on

Despite rumblings of a potential deal for L'Jarius Sneed, a trade between the Colts and Chiefs "isn't happening," according to Adam Schefter.

L’Jarius Sneed has become one of the best lockdown corners in the NFL while helping the Kansas City Chiefs win back-to-back Super Bowls.

Although Sneed has been a massive key player for the Chiefs’ recent run of championships, his future with the team remains clouded. He currently sits on the franchise tag, and Kansas City has been open to moving the former fourth-round pick to the highest bidder as he searches for a lucrative new contract.

While some rumors have tied the Chiefs to one team in the AFC South, the top NFL reporter poured cold water on that idea Monday afternoon.

L’Jarius Sneed Trade Rumors: Adam Schefter Shuts Down Colts Speculation

Speculation of the Chiefs trading Sneed to the Indianapolis Colts picked up steam over the weekend when Colts beat writer Destin Adams reported that the two sides were finalizing a deal involving draft compensation.

However, on Monday afternoon’s edition of The Pat McAfee Show on ESPN, NFL reporter Adam Schefter made it clear that while rumors have tied the Chiefs’ CB to Indianapolis in a potential trade, reports of any substantial talks between the two teams have been inaccurate.

“They haven’t had any conversations,” Schefter said. “The two sides haven’t had ‘any conversations.’ Not happening.”

Schefter did make it clear, however, that the rumor could “certainly change,” but that the conversations weren’t happening.

Schefter’s comments were not taken well by McAfee. The former Colts punter has consistently cheered for his former team and was excited after the weekend reports speculating that the organization could be bringing in one of the best cover corners in the game.

That certainly isn’t happening anytime soon, though, even if conversations with other teams are currently still going on.

“I want you to be happy,” Schefter joked with McAfee after showing his disappointment. “There have been conversations going on, but the Chiefs have no problems with playing him on the tag. It’s up to (Sneed) and his agent to see if they can help broker a deal and structure something to get him the long-term security he wants.”

Sneed could certainly be on his way out, but it doesn’t look like Kansas City will be allowing him to walk away for free anytime soon.
