Heading into the NFL playoffs, the Kansas City Chiefs are trying to become the first team in NFL history to win three consecutive Super Bowls. Winning back-to-back Super Bowls is extremely difficult, much less pulling off a three-peat.

The Green Bay Packers were the first, winning both Super Bowl I and II. They were followed by the Miami Dolphins, who won in 1973 and 1974. The Pittsburgh Steelers did the same in 1975 and 1976. Then, the Steelers went back-to-back again just two years later, winning it all in 1979 and 1980.
The San Francisco 49ers joined this exclusive club with their consecutive titles in 1989 and 1990. The Dallas Cowboys also went back-to-back in 1993 and 1994. The Denver Broncos also achieved this feat in 1998 and 1999. The New England Patriots won two straight in 2004 and 2005.
Has Any Team Won Three Straight Super Bowls?
There has never been a Super Bowl three-peat in NFL history. In a league with so much parity, winning three consecutive Super Bowls is an extremely difficult feat. It’s worth noting that the Green Bay Packers won three consecutive NFL championships in 1965, 1966, and 1967, but the first title was before the Super Bowl was implemented.
In the Super Bowl era, the Patriots and Cowboys came closest to winning three straight.
New England won three titles in four years between the 2001 and 2004 seasons. Meanwhile, the Cowboys won three Super Bowl titles in four years between the 1992 and 1995 seasons. Additionally, the Steelers won four Super Bowls in six years between the 1974 and 1979 NFL seasons.
The Chiefs hope to become the first team to achieve this feat during the 2024 season. If Kansas City can hoist the Lombardi Trophy in Super Bowl LIX at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans on Feb. 9, 2025, their dynastic run will make NFL history and go down as one of the most impressive runs in all of professional sports.
