The Philadelphia Eagles were one of the best teams in the NFL this season, battling for the No. 1 seed in the NFC and bouncing back from a shaky second half in 2023. After a successful 2024 season, the Eagles will have their sights set on making another push for a Super Bowl in 2025.
Last offseason, the Eagles made a huge splash adding Saquon Barkley in free agency, changing the identity of their team, and re-establishing themselves as one of the top contenders in the NFL. They will have their work cut out for them this offseason, as they are in the bottom half of the league in cap space and look to reconfigure their roster to make a run at a Lombardi trophy.

Philadelphia Eagles 2025 Cap Space and Players To Cut
Unlike last season, the Eagles may be hard-pressed to make a big splash in free agency, as they rank No. 21 in the NFL in salary cap space with $19,821,816. However, GM Howie Roseman has proven time after time that he has some tricks under his sleeve, and it would not be surprising if he moves some money around in order to let the Eagles make a surprise addition.
With less than $20 million in cap space, the Eagles will likely explore cutting or restructuring a few players to free up additional cap space. While these may not be popular moves, the team will have to get creative if they were to create more cap space.

One potential option would be releasing cornerback James Bradberry IV. If the Eagles were to cut Bradberry (2025 cap hit: $7,819,000) with a post-June 1 designation, it would free up $4,724,000 in cap space. Bradberry had 54 tackles (39 solo, 15 assists), 13 pass deflections, and one interception in 2024.
Another potential option would be releasing cornerback Darius Slay Jr. Releasing Slay (2025 cap hit: $13,765,483) would give the Eagles $4,324,000 in cap space if designated as a post-June 1 cut. Slay had 49 tackles (39 solo and 10 assists), 13 pass deflections, and a forced fumble in 2024.
While both have been productive players for the Eagles, the team drafted both Cooper DeJean and Quinyon Mitchell this past season, and both played extremely well as rookies. With two young and controllable players in the secondary, it could make sense for the Eagles to move on from one of their more expensive veterans at the position.
However, since neither would free up too much space, restructuring the contracts of some veterans who they plan to keep around for a while may be the scenario that makes the most sense for Philadelphia.
