Patrick Mahomes led the Kansas City Chiefs to a 23-14 win against the Houston Texans in the Divisional Round. The Chiefs have now made seven straight AFC Championship Games and should be considered the favorites to represent their conference in the Super Bowl.
The referees ruled multiple controversial calls in favor of the Chiefs, creating a lot of social media buzz. Even rapper Lil Wayne couldn’t hold back from expressing his thoughts about Mahomes’ team.
Lil Wayne Sounds Off on Chiefs’ Win vs. Texans
Wayne, like many other fans of opposing teams on social media platforms, said the Chiefs were cheating because they benefited from some of the decisions made by the game officials.
“I hate the cheating a** Chiefs,” wrote Wayne via X (formerly known as Twitter). “It’s not even impressive when you cheat and then clearly try to cheat. Just win baby.”
Wayne is a fan of the Green Bay Packers, but he couldn’t hold back from saying what he thinks about the Chiefs.

Since Kansas City has been the most successful team of this generation, the fans of other teams often bring up how Mahomes and Co. regularly benefit from the controversial decisions made by the refs.
It’s not new, as the New England Patriots experienced the same during their dynastic run. Since social media platforms were not as relevant back then as they are now, the noise wasn’t heard by people worldwide to the same degree.
The Chiefs indeed got some questionable calls in their favor, but it’s the same story in every NFL game. The people associated with the losing team try to find reasons to blame the loss on others, and generally, blaming the refs is the easiest thing to do.
Talking bad about Mahomes and the Chiefs also results in more engagement on social media platforms, and many are benefiting from it. Unlike Wayne, several other accounts regularly try to bait fans on X by exaggerating things. This often results in them making money, so the negative chatter around the Chiefs, Travis Kelce, Taylor Swift, and Mahomes will never stop.
Based on how the game went, Kansas City would probably have won even without the calls that went in their favor. They sacked C.J. Stroud eight times, and the refs didn’t help their defense at all. The Chiefs will host the winner of the game between the Baltimore Ravens and Buffalo Bills next week as the AFC West team continues its quest of winning three straight Super Bowls.
Patrick Mahomes Continues His Flawless Run in the Divisional Round
Mahomes has made the AFC Championship Game in every single season since he became the starting quarterback in the NFL. He is now 7-0 in Divisional Round games and is in a great position to make his fifth Super Bowl appearance.
The Chiefs quarterback threw for 177 yards, one touchdown, and no interceptions, completing 64% of his throws with a passer rating of 98.2. He also threw a stunning touchdown pass to Kelce, displaying that he is ready for next week’s blockbuster matchup against either Josh Allen or Lamar Jackson.

Mahomes has never thrown an interception in seven of the Divisional Round games he has played in his career. He has completed 69.7% of his throws in these seven games for 1,819 yards and 14 touchdowns with a passer rating of 113.9.
Like previous seasons, the two-time NFL MVP is peaking at the right time, and his team will be tough to stop. The matchup against the Bills or the Ravens in the AFC Championship Game next week promises to be a thriller, but the Chiefs will have the advantage as they are well rested, and their players came out of the game against the Texans without any injuries.
