Lil Wayne Signs Star NFL Prospect Travis Hunter to Young Money Sports Agency

Colorado Buffaloes and NFL-bound WR/CB Travis Hunter signs with rapper Lil Wayne's sports agency ahead of the 2025 NFL Draft.

Colorado Buffaloes wide receiver/cornerback Travis Hunter and American rapper Lil Wayne’s relationship is taking on new strides as the five-time Grammy winner officially signed the NFL-bound standout to his Young Money sports agency.

This marks a landmark deal because Hunter, a potential No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, has reportedly disregarded offers from big sharks like WME, CAA, Klutch Sports Group, and Athletes First.

Travis Hunter Joins Elite Group of Athletes in Lil Wayne’s Sports Agency

A day after his big loss to the BYU Cougars in the Alamo Bowl, Hunter had started his preparations to get ready for the NFL. He is expected to make his decision for the NFL Combine drills soon, but before that, landing a sports agent was essential.

On Sunday night, the announcement was made that Lil Wayne has officially signed Hunter for on-field representation in the NFL. His company, Young Money APAA Sports, will manage Hunter’s playing contracts and almost all his deals. This also marks a decisive move in Lil Wayne’s brand value in the sports agency market.

Currently, Young Money represents a couple of high-profile athletes, like Darian Mensah (Duke quarterback), who recently landed a two-year, $8 million NIL deal, and Colorado’s Jehiem Oatis, a transfer from Alabama.

When it comes to off-field representation, Hunter is still associated with SMAC Entertainment — the same agency that landed him the lucrative Adidas deal and boasts other Colorado alum like head coach Deion Sanders, as well as teammates Shilo and Shedeur Sanders. They will continue to work with Hunter even after he transitions to the NFL.

Hunter Shares Desire To Go No. 1 Overall in NFL Draft

Before his Heisman Trophy victory, Hunter mentioned his dream of climbing the draft boards and getting picked by a team No. 1 overall.

“Definitely, man. I want to be No. 1,” Hunter said on The Pivot Podcast in early December 2024.

“That’s the first thing I dreamed of. I ain’t dreamed of winning the Heisman. I dreamed of being No. 1. I’m the first to do it in my family. Why not keep going and be the first?” he added, per Bleacher Report.

Apparently, the situation has turned out to be in Hunter’s favor, with the New England Patriots currently holding the No. 1 overall pick of the 2025 NFL Draft. Time will tell where he will land, but for now, it looks like the Patriots could in contention for the two-way star.
