With their win against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Christmas, Andy Reid and the Kansas City Chiefs have secured the top seed in the AFC. The AFC West team is well on track to becoming the first team in NFL history to win three straight Super Bowls.
LeSean McCoy, the legendary Philadelphia Eagles running back, recently picked Reid and the Chiefs to win the Super Bowl, even though he still roots for Philadelphia.
LeSean McCoy Picks Andy Reid and Co. Over the Eagles
McCoy won a Super Bowl with the Chiefs and has always shown his respect for Kansas City and coach Reid. He has often said the Chiefs head coach is the best in the NFL’s history, and winning a third straight Super Bowl would be a great addition to his legendary résumé.
The 12-year NFL veteran picked the Chiefs over the Eagles during a recent segment on “The Facility.” He said, “I’m an Eagle and all that, but I want Andy Reid to get this three-peat. It’s never been done before; he’s the best coach of football of all time.”

The Eagles legend further discussed how impressed he was with the Chiefs’ 29-10 win against the Steelers. “Yesterday, as I was watching the game, I said, “Oh my god, the Chiefs are back,” added McCoy. “Andy Reid’s offense is back, and Patrick Mahomes, last thing, his swagger is back.”
McCoy further highlighted how Mahomes has performed well despite playing on a bad ankle. He also applauded the defending champions’ way of winning three games in 10 days.
The Chiefs have lost just one game since Christmas last year, and it was against the Buffalo Bills. They are just one win away from playing in their seventh straight AFC Championship Game, and unlike last season, it will be played in Kansas City this time if they advance.
The Chiefs Are Peaking at the Right Time
Kansas City won 16 straight one-possession games heading into Week 17’s fixture against the Steelers. Many doubted how Mahomes’ team has performed, some saying they were lucky and that they could potentially bounce out early in the playoffs.
Unfortunately for the critics, the Chiefs are peaking at the right time as it has always been in the Mahomes era. They had their first blowout win of the season in Pittsburgh against one of the best defenses in the NFL and now have nearly a month of rest before they play their next meaningful game.
With how the seeding has worked out, the Chiefs could also avoid the Bills and the Baltimore Ravens in the Divisional Round, which is a significant advantage for them.
Based on current seedings, the Chiefs are expected to play the Houston Texans or the Steelers in the Divisional Round. They defeated both these teams in their last two games, and with Reid having nearly a month to prepare for the game, it’s hard to see a world where the AFC Championship Game is not being played in Kansas City this season.
All the things have lined up perfectly for the Chiefs to win another Super Bowl, and as McCoy said, it will be something that would boost Reid’s reputation a lot when it comes to all-time rankings.
