Week 15 was an opportunity for the Dak Prescott and the Dallas Cowboys. An opportunity to silence critics and doubters like LeSean McCoy and many others. They did not, however. In fact, they gave them more fuel for the fire.
Prescott and the Cowboys are polarizing, and when you are Amercia’s Team, it comes with a lot of eyes — and analysis. When you lose 31-10 in ugly fashion, those who have been waiting for you to fall are surely not going to take the high road now. Such is the case with McCoy and his declaration that Prescott no longer belongs in the MVP conversation.
LeSean McCoy Criticizes Dak Prescott After Loss
McCoy has not been shy about his feelings toward the Cowboys and their quarterback. When things have been tough for the team, McCoy has found himself as the spokesperson for those who are anti-Cowboys and has created a lucrative lane for himself by doing so.
Well, when things were about as bad as they could be for Dallas against the Buffalo Bills in Week 15, Shady was right there to let everyone know that Dak is who he thought he was.
“I told you this. Talking about Dak Prescott for MVP, I said hold up he’s going to show you who he truly is, who we know him to be,” McCoy started before burning his MVP ballot and throwing it into a trash can.
“See you forgot about the first six weeks, you forgot about them…so you come up to Buffalo and see another great quarterback and see what it’s supposed to look like.”
Whether you agree with the messenger or not, the discourse is rooted in fact. Dallas’ Week 15 loss, in the fashion that it went down, is a massive blow to Prescott and his MVP-worthiness. And when you are the quarterback of the Cowboys, these are the types of conversations you have come to expect.
NFC East Still Up for Grabs
With a loss to the Bills, many around Cowboys Nation had a feeling of a lost opportunity. The team was in first place in the division for the first time this season and due to their poor performance, it was short-lived.
However, due to the Philadelphia Eagles losing to Drew Lock and the Seattle Seahawks on Monday Night Football, Dallas is back in the No. 1 spot with a better chance than they thought they were going to have after leaving upstate New York on Sunday.
MORE: Eagles and Cowboys Locked in Tight Divisional Race
With the Eagles’ loss, the Cowboys can afford to lose to either Miami or Detroit and still win the NFC East with a Philly loss in any of their final three games. If the Cowboys go 3-0, they will still need an Eagles loss to make it happen, but if they finish 2-1 with one of the wins being against the Washington Commanders in Week 18, only one Eagles loss gives the Cowboys the division.
A lot to be sorted out over the next three weeks, but the NFC East is going to be a division race worth watching.
