LeBron James knows greatness, and he’s all in on Mike Evans’ latest milestone. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR just joined NFL royalty, tying Jerry Rice’s record with his 11th straight 1,000-yard season. GOAT company.
James chimed in with a “Too TOUGH!” shoutout on social media, and honestly, same. Evans did smash it.
LeBron James Cheers as Mike Evans Ties Jerry Rice’s 1,000-Yard Record
Evans just went full beast mode, and James is here for it. The NBA king himself dropped a post on X (formerly Twitter), hyping Evans’ historic achievement: “So damn 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥. Super congrats my brother! Too TOUGH!! @MikeEvans13_ 🫡” Evans just tied Rice’s legendary record of 11 consecutive 1,000-yard seasons.

Here’s how it went down: Evans needed five more yards to reach the milestone, and with the clock ticking, the Bucs weren’t about to let history slip by.
Baker Mayfield delivered a short pass, and Evans turned it into a nine-yard gain, sealing the deal. As soon as he hit that mark, the ball was spiked and teammates swarmed him like a pack of wolves. This was no ordinary Sunday.
Not only did Evans hit the record, but he bagged a fat $3 million bonus for his 70+ catches, 1,000 yards, and 10 TDs this season. Finishing with 74 receptions and 11 TDs, Evans proved he’s still got it, even at 31 years old (take notes, haters).
The man fought through a hamstring injury this season, missing three games, yet still delivered the goods.
“I was hoping they’d get the stop, I couldn’t pass up history. To be tied with the greatest to ever do it. … The defense knew the record was on the line and they were trying to get off the field. I appreciate them for that,” Evans reflected.
With the Bucs securing the NFC South and a playoff spot (thanks to a 27-19 win over the New Orleans Saints), Evans’ day got even sweeter. He finished with nine catches for 89 yards, making sure his team entered the postseason on a high note.
Even the Bucs’ GM Jason Licht couldn’t help but gush.
Buccaneers GM Jason Licht on Evans’ Historic Feat
Evans’ 11th consecutive 1,000-yard season wasn’t just a milestone for the wide receiver; it hit home for Buccaneers GM Licht and his family. Licht, who drafted Evans in 2014, shared with Sports Illustrated how Evans’ achievement has become a regular dinner table topic.
“We talk about Mike at the dinner table,” Licht said. “All week long, even when we went out to dinner last night, it was like, ‘Is Mike going to get his 1,000 yards? You have to make sure he gets his 1,000 yards.'”
Licht added, “I could go on and on. We would do anything for Mike.” His admiration runs deep: “To my family, I don’t think we can put him in a higher light.”
The Bucs’ GM’s praise speaks volumes about Evans’ impact, on and off the field.
