Raiders Predicted To Land Suprise QB in 2025 NFL Draft as Star QB Plummets

The Las Vegas Raiders are predicted to land a surprise QB in Chris Dodson's latest mock draft as Shedeur Sanders falls out of the top five picks.

The Las Vegas Raiders will be looking to add a QB this offseason. New head coach Pete Carroll will be looking for the long-term answer for the franchise. Throughout the season, the Raiders looked destined for the No. 1 overall selection, or at least a top-three slot.

However, they fell to No. 6 in the final NFL Draft order after winning some games late in the season, complicating their chances to get one of the top QBs. The Raiders look like they might have to look outside of the first round for their new QB. An underwhelming free agency market may further emphasize their need for a QB in the 2025 NFL Draft, especially one of the top guys.

Based on Pro Football Network‘s most recent 2025 NFL mock draft by Chris Dodson, they may be in luck.

Raiders New QB: Las Vegas Gets Its Guy After Projected Draft Slide

In this mock, Dodson has the New York Giants trading up to take Cam Ward with the first pick. The Cleveland Browns picked star EDGE Adbul Carter at two, and the Tennessee Titans selected two-way star Travis Hunter with the third pick. The New England Patriots and Jacksonville Jaguars both took defensive players from the University of Michigan, Mason Graham and Will Johnson. Then, the Raiders are on the clock.

Colorado star QB Shedeur Sanders fell to the sixth pick in this outcome, and the Raiders potentially got their quarterback of the future. This would be a dream scenario for Las Vegas. Sanders has been consistently expected to go in the top five and be unavailable for the Raiders.

But if the Raiders can land Sanders, that would be ideal as they can avoid the weak free-agent QB market and don’t have to reach beyond the top two QB prospects. He would be a huge addition to a Raiders team that has had quite the carousel at QB for the past two seasons. After starting six different QBs in the past two seasons, Sanders would be given the keys to hopefully provide stability to the QB position in Las Vegas.

Sanders’ Projection as an NFL QB

Sanders had a very successful season for the University of Colorado. He threw for 4,134 yards, 37 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions. His arm talent is on display often and his connection with Hunter was quite the show.

“Sanders has shown remarkable poise and passing accuracy in big moments. In others, there have been some head-scratching sacks,” Dodson said about Sanders.

Sanders will bring talent, plenty of it, compared to the low-pedigree QBs that the Raiders have trotted out the past two seasons. He doesn’t come without flaws, though. One of the biggest concerns with him is that he holds onto the ball for too long and takes some questionable sacks. However, the proof is in the film for why Sanders can be a huge hit for the Raiders.

“It is easy to see a potential franchise quarterback à la Jayden Daniels,” said Dodson on what Sanders might potentially be in the NFL.

Sanders has all the attributes to be a star in the NFL, and the Raiders would be thrilled to have him lead their franchise for years to come. If he can clean up the few weak points in his game, falling to the Raiders at No. 6 might look like a complete blessing for Las Vegas.
