The Las Vegas Raiders are in an awkward phase as a franchise. The roster is littered with All-Pro talent but without the necessary depth to compete consistently on either side of the ball.
They have a new quarterback in town in Jimmy Garoppolo, but there is absolutely no guarantee he can match Derek Carr’s offensive production outside of the comfort of the 49ers’ weaponry. Here’s a look at their 2023 betting lines, a best bet, and more.

Las Vegas Raiders Offense
Las Vegas’ offense wasn’t the issue a season ago. However, there is far greater uncertainty surrounding their unit in 2023. Josh Jacobs hasn’t been practicing football, so even when he returns, it will likely take time for him to reacclimate to the game.
Garoppolo doesn’t exactly have the best health history. He has missed 31 regular-season games over the past four years and has dealt with such a wide variety of injuries that you’d assume he grabbed them from a Halloween basket.
Aidan O’Connell has looked like the real deal so far in the preseason, but playing with the ones against opposing ones in regular-season action could paint a very different picture. Luckily, Davante Adams is still around, even if Darren Waller is not.
Las Vegas Raiders Defense
At least they still have Maxx Crosby. Unfortunately, the Raiders’ defensive backfield is headlined by Marcus Peters, a CB who signed with the team one month ago. But much like the Cleveland Browns a season ago, it’s hard to be a sufficient defense when you’re weak up the middle.
And oh boy … the Raiders will not be pretty there in 2023. Jerry Tillery, Bilal Nichols, Neil Farrell Jr., John Jenkins, and rookie Byron Young man the middle. Robert Spillane and Divine Deablo man the second level. Miracles happen every day, but it’s hard to see a path toward anything resembling defensive success for Patrick Graham’s defense.
One Betting Trend To Know
What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas … including offense: Six of the Raiders’ nine road games last season went under the total, according to Inside Edge.
Best Bet for Las Vegas Raiders in 2023
It will not be a pretty season for the Raiders if their roster performs anywhere near where it should be based on projections and a deep, disturbing look at their depth chart.

It’s not easy to imagine the Broncos being any worse than a season ago, which makes the Raiders the floor in the AFC West. Even with a middle-of-the-pack schedule, it’s hard to find wins on the calendar. I’m actually taking the under on the alternate win total of 5.5, which currently sits at +120.
