One of the most productive receivers in college football, LaJohntay Wester looks to earn a role with an NFL team next season. Wester may be undersized, but he’s an electric player with the ball in his hands.

LaJohntay Wester’s Draft Profile and Measurements
- Height: 5’11
- Weight: 167 pounds
- Position: Wide Receiver
- School: Colorado
- Current Year: Redshirt Senior
Wester’s Scouting Report
Wester is from Palmetto, Florida, where he played at Palmetto High School. He was a hidden gem as a recruit, having had zero stars and only a handful of offers. Wester ended up earning an offer from Florida Atlantic University and enrolled there as a true freshman.
As a true freshman, Wester played sparingly, but he was very productive as a sophomore and a junior with the Owls. As a senior in 2023, Wester became the school’s all-time leading receiver and was also named first-team All-AAC and an All-American.
After four years with Florida Atlantic, Wester decided to enter the transfer portal, where he signed with the Colorado Buffaloes to play under head coach Deion Sanders. In his lone season with the Buffaloes, Wester was tremendous and provided the team with several big plays.
Now, he enters the NFL Draft, where he hopes to hear his name called in a crowded wide receiver class.

Current Draft Projection and Summary
Wester is one of a few Colorado receivers entering the 2025 NFL Draft class. He isn’t as well known as his teammates Travis Hunter and Jimmy Horn Jr., but Wester certainly will have a role in the NFL next season. He brings a ton of experience and versatility to the next level and should be able to carve out a successful career.
As a prospect, Wester has below-average size and strength but is a good overall athlete. He primarily played in the slot but was often moved around the formation to create favorable mismatches.
Wester is a sudden receiver who runs excellent routes. He creates very good separation at the top of the route and displays good start-stop quickness to snap off routes at the breakpoint, leaving his defender stumbling to gather their footing. Wester was outstanding as an underneath option, and Colorado used him a ton on screens and bubbles to get the ball into his hands, as he is dynamic after the catch.
Wester has very good speed and acceleration. He’s able to win vertically down the field and was above average overall with his hands and body control to track the football. His lack of length and size limits his ability to come down with contested catches, and he battled concentration drops throughout his career.
Wester is a slot-only receiver who won’t be able to win on the boundary at the next level. He will struggle to win 1-on-1 against NFL-caliber corners and will find it difficult to defeat press coverage at the next level.
But overall, Wester is a tough, versatile receiver who should be able to compete in the slot as well as contribute on special teams. He may have to wait a little come draft day due to his size and play strength, but I expect Wester to hear his name on Day 3 of the NFL Draft.
