Georgia’s Ladd McConkey is one of the most coveted wide receivers in the 2024 NFL Draft after a successful college career with the Georgia Bulldogs.
A three-star recruit, McConkey redshirted his first season with the Bulldogs and initially spent time on the scout team. However, his dependability as a receiver quickly led him to blossom from an under-recruited player into a college football star.
McConkey won two national championships during his time at Georgia and has the winning pedigree NFL GMs look for.
He graduated in 2023 with a degree in finance, but his 40-yard dash time will show that McConkey projects as an NFL receiver, not an accountant.
Ladd McConkey’s Impressive NFL Combine Performance
McConkey measured as a smaller receiver at the NFL Combine.
At just 5’11 5/8″ and 186 pounds, the narrative out of the Senior Bowl and combine was not about McConkey’s size, but instead, his athletic ability.
The Georgia receiver dazzled throughout drills, securing his spot as a late first-round or early second-round draft pick.

How Fast Is McConkey?
McConkey’s 4.39-second 40-yard dash put him in the 86th percentile in direct comparison to his peers of wide receivers.
McConkey’s speed might have come as a surprise to some, as he was known as more of a dependable, shifty, receiver and less of a downfield threat during his time with the Bulldogs.
How Old Is McConkey?
Born Nov. 11, 2002, McConkey is 22 years old. He will turn 23 during the midway point through his rookie season.
McConkey’s Latest Scouting Report
While McConkey isn’t considered to have a top-notch build like first-round receivers Marvin Harrison Jr. and Malik Nabers, he fits very nicely into that second tier because of his deceptive route running and speedy athleticism.
His smaller frame might not be an issue in the NFL. It wasn’t at Georgia because he often avoids contested situations entirely by virtue of his best-in-class route running and nuance.
In McConkey’s scouting report, Pro Football Network draft analyst Ian Cummings referred to the Georgia receiver as a good athlete with superb short-area quickness.
“As a route runner, McConkey is endlessly deceptive, with outstanding throttle control, stride freedom, blindspot IQ, spatial awareness, and intentional motion,” Cummings wrote. “He can also run routes from any alignment, compound routes with targeted physicality, works off motions, and tack on RAC yardage with his agility and fluidity.”
