Arizona Cardinals QB Kyler Murray’s dynasty value appears to have taken a hit due to his lengthy absence caused by his torn ACL. Still one of the best dual-threat quarterbacks in the league, are fantasy football managers undervaluing Murray?
Kyler Murray’s Dynasty Outlook
In 2021, Murray was “my guy” at quarterback. Things started so well with 34+ fantasy points each of the first two weeks. He posted 22+ fantasy points in five of his first seven games. Then, he got hurt and was never really able to rebound.

In 2022, it was a similar story. Murray recorded 20+ fantasy points in three of his first four games. He scored more than 17.2 fantasy points just two more times the rest of the season before tearing his ACL in Week 14.
If you rostered Murray in 2021 or 2022, you likely finished the season very frustrated. In 2023, Murray was largely an afterthought due to the knowledge that he would miss at least half the season recovering from knee surgery.
Murray’s return to play was not surprising. What was surprising was how little rust he showed.
Murray ran for 33 and 51 yards in each of his first two games back. He scored 18+ fantasy points in each of his first three games and had another two with more than 20 yards. I’ve been critical of Murray in the past because of his boom/bust nature, but now that his price has come down, he’s becoming a value.

Should You Trade Murray in Dynasty?

In his career, Murray has never averaged fewer than 18.2 fantasy points per game. Over his first four seasons, he finished as the QB11, QB3, QB4, and QB7, respectively.
Even in his first year back from his ACL tear, Murray didn’t miss a beat. He averaged 18.9 fantasy ppg in half of a season last year. Had he been able to play at the same level for the entire year, he would’ve been the overall QB8.
Now another year removed from his injury, Murray, who didn’t really look tentative at all last season, will have even more confidence in his knee. The Cardinals are likely to add a receiver, either via the NFL Draft or free agency, which will only help Murray be more effective.
Murray will be 27 years old this year. He is signed through his age-31 season. While there was the possibility Arizona was going to finish with the worst record in football and draft Caleb Williams, they have since openly committed to Murray long-term. I believe them.
Although the quarterback position was a disaster in fantasy last year, that was mostly due to the inordinate number of injuries. On the whole, the list of potential fantasy QB1s is longer than 12, and there are still the elite guys that Murray doesn’t really compete with, at least according to perception.

Murray is currently about as good of a value as he is ever going to be. He’s quite literally never been bad during his career. Dynasty managers in need of a quarterback should be targeting Murray in trades.
