Kyle Trask Dynasty Profile: Fantasy Outlook, Value, Projections, and Rankings

Currently atop the Bucs' depth chart, what does Kyle Trask's future look like, and what is his value in dynasty fantasy football leagues going forward?

As we inch toward the new season, the ever-changing NFL landscape has player fantasy values constantly on the move. Whether you’re used to the dynasty platform or are still learning the rules, let’s dive into the latest dynasty fantasy football value of Kyle Trask.

Kyle Trask’s Dynasty Outlook and Value

As of the conclusion of the 2022 season, Trask is the only quarterback under contract for the Buccaneers. It’s a less-than-ideal situation for a team just two years removed from winning the Super Bowl. But such is life when Tom Brady is essentially on a year-to-year contract.

The Bucs drafted Trask with the last pick of the second round in the 2021 NFL Draft. It was a worthwhile move, given Brady’s age and uncertain future. It’s always a good idea to take a shot on quarterbacks.

Unfortunately, it doesn’t seem as though Trask is any good. He saw his first career game action in Week 18 of this past season after the Bucs pulled their starters (and backups) in a meaningless game. Trask had every opportunity to win Tampa’s backup quarterback job in 2021 and again in 2022. He failed to beat out Blaine Gabbert.

Trask had a prolific final year at Florida, throwing for 4,283 yards and 43 touchdowns. But through two NFL seasons, the most we’ve seen is a game where he entered late and completed three of nine passes for 23 yards.

    Kyle Trask’s Fantasy Ranking

I would absolutely stunned if Trask is the Bucs’ Week 1 starter in 2023. His best-case scenario is backing up whoever the starter is next season, which would be an improvement on his third-string role since entering the league.

3/15 Update: That now appears to be Baker Mayfield.

I don’t see a scenario where Trask has any fantasy value at any point in his career. The only sliver of hope is he ends up being forced to start due to injury and becomes a necessary pickup in Superflex leagues.

We currently have Trask at QB36 (No. 182 overall) in our dynasty Superflex rankings. That ranking is more out of necessity than any belief in Trask. The instant the Bucs sign a veteran, Trask’s ranking will likely plummet. I have less than zero interest in Trask in dynasty startup drafts.
