Whenever there is a discussion of the greatest undrafted player in NFL history, the list starts and ends with Kurt Warner. No one came close to the heights of Warner, who won two MVPs and a Super Bowl as the man throwing the ball for the Greatest Show on Turf.
His word carries weight as a Hall of Famer and one of the true all-time greats. However, when it comes to this year’s NFL Draft, he doesn’t see any elite QB talent outside of Cam Ward from Miami (FL).

Kurt Warner Rips Apart Incoming QB Class, Including Shedeur Sanders
For most people, the quarterback race for the 2025 NFL Draft has been a two-man contest between Shedeur Sanders and Ward. Jalen Milroe and Jaxson Dart have garnered some attention, but for all intents and purposes, those two men are leading the charge.
However, Warner believes the field is even thinner, with only the Miami QB jumping out to him as a potentially elite talent. Taking to X, he wrote, “So I’ve watched 3+ games of 5 draftable QBs & I feel you have Ward as the outlier with some ‘unique’ throwing ability.”
As far as the rest go, Warner said, “You have 4 other guys that are basically the same guy in how they play – seems that it will be more about preference & maybe what 1 does a little better than another in an area you value!”
Later, he revealed that the four others he mentioned were Sanders, Dart, Kyle McCord, and Tyler Shough. Of course, out of these, Sanders is a name that truly stands out. He’s been a polarizing name so far but is slated to go third in the NFL Draft, just behind Ward, in PFSN’s latest mock draft, post-NFL Scouting Combine.

And it isn’t hard to see why. In his final year, behind a depleted offensive line at Colorado, he led his team to nine wins while throwing for 4,134 yards on an unbelievable 74% completion percentage, adding 37 touchdowns against just 10 interceptions.

The play on the field hasn’t been anything to scoff at. And while some conflicting reports about his demeanor have made the rounds, teams like the Cleveland Browns have had only positive things to say about the young quarterback.
It remains to be seen if Warner turns out to be correct regarding his assessment of Sanders, but we’ll get the first taste of his prediction in Green Bay, Wisc., when the NFL Draft begins on April 24.
