Kirk Cousins Making His Broadcasting Debut

Toward the end of the Los Angeles Chargers’ win over the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 11, Mike Tirico mentioned that Cousins would be trying his hand at broadcasting in Week 12.

Cousins will appear on NBC’s Football Night in America pregame show to break down the Week 12 slate and preview the Sunday Night Football showdown between the Philadelphia Eagles and Los Angeles Rams.

This isn’t the first time that Cousins has shown interest in the media world, as he previously hosted a podcast called “Under Center with Kirk Cousins” while he was starting for the Minnesota Vikings.

According to the Vikings, the objective of the podcast was to give fans “behind-the-scenes access from our quarterback right after he had the chance to review game film and truly bring Vikings fans inside the locker room.” On the weekly hour-long podcast, Cousins and KFAN’s Mark Rosen interviewed teammates, people in his life, and prominent Minnesotans.

The show was a huge success, as it was nominated for Best Podcast at the Shorty Awards and helped the Vikings Podcast Network’s downloads increase by 141%.

It certainly seems Cousins is interested in broadcasting and may be planning for his post-NFL career. Given his fun personality, terrific interviews, and meme-worthy moments over the years, it wouldn’t be a surprise if Cousins thrives in the booth once his playing days come to an end.

However, for now, he’s focused on leading the Falcons to the playoffs.

    Atlanta Falcons’ Playoff Chances

    • Current Record: 6-5
    • Make the Playoffs: 47.6%
    • Win the Division: 45.7%
    • #1 Seed: <0.1%
    • Win the Super Bowl<0.1%

The Falcons enter their bye week taking on water. They lost by a field goal to the New Orleans Saints in Week 10 despite allowing just 14 first downs. Then, Atlanta had their doors blown off by Bo Nix in Denver (38-6), a two-game stretch that has impacted their long-term outlook in a significant way.

The Falcons’ primary goal will be to win the division, something that is plenty reasonable with them already sweeping the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, not to mention games left against the Las Vegas Raiders, New York Giants, and Carolina Panthers. Their outlook is still optimistic, but the fear that this team peaked too early is certainly legitimate.
